Smart Reward based Garbage bin using IoT
Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryPROJECT SUMMARY:
Clean and healthy environment is very important for our society. However, the objective of keeping the environment clean has not yet been achieved successfully. Litter is thrown anywhere despite knowing that the dustbin is placed few meters away.
The view that there has to be a motivation for people to use dustbins gave us idea to develop a dedicated system which will reward the person putting up the garbage and hence applauding him for his act of wisdom by displaying message of appreciation and Green Points.
Smart Reward Based Garbage Bin Using IoT (SRGB) would be a System which will comprise of three bins equipped with sensors in each bin. The three bins will be filled with plastic, disposable, and metals separately. Thus all three sensors will be placed in all three bins to detect the type of waste deposited and display error message in case of false entry. The depositer will swipe the Barcode Scanner fitted on the system through Student Identity Card. The session would start once the user is authenticated with the card which will last for 30 seconds. The reward will be generated on the basis of number of items deposited in all three bins which will be displayed as Green Points on the Android App. If the depositor enters false item in a particular bin, he will be given with Red Points for not being careful before depositing.
The history of the deposits will be maintained in the SRGB Android Application for different depositors. This project has its implementation within the University premisis and outsiders can only deposit the garbage however they will not be rewarded with points since they donot have ID card to login in the SRGB System.
Project ObjectivesOBJECTIVES:
- To develop an Android Application which will keep and display record of the Garbage deposited and Points earned.
- Configuring Student Authentication System using Barcode/QR code Scanner.
- Installing IoT sensors in the bins. Ultrasonic Sensor for Obect Counter, Inductive Sensors to detect metallic Objects and Capacitive Sensors to detect plastic, glass and and Disposables.
- Designing and developing Physical Frame of SRGB.
PROJECT IMPLEMENTATION METHOD:
- The depositor will swipe Barcode/QRcode on his ID card against the Barcode Scanner to login SRGB System.
- The depositor will have to deposit his item within 30seconds in the respective section.
- Once the item gets deposited, Green Reward Points will be generated and its information will be saved in the depositors account.
- The system Issues Red Points in the Android App if wrong type of Item is deposited in a particular bin.
- ‘Thankyou’ message would be displayed on Android App and LCD Display, once the session is completed.
SIGNIFICANCE:
This project will be very useful for creating awareness in our society particularly our University. Students will be encouraged to dispose Garbage at the proper place once they will be appreciated with a Green Points. The students will be pleased to know that they are literate and civilized person of the Society. People will be very careful in future before throwing the garbage on the floor. Moreover, this project would spread positivity in our society which is the prime target of this project. Each person who used SRGB to deposit garbage, would be very proud to be sensible a person of the society.
