Robots in medicine help by relieving medical personnel from the tasks that take their time away from more pressing responsibilities. Nurses spent plenty of time in the hospital ward while distributing pills to each bed. As the number of patients increasing more rapidly as compare to recruitment of nurses, so it increases the workload of nurses and make nurses less productive. In market small medical boxes are available that helps the patients to remind them to take the pills at specific time on its own but these are nothing more than a simple “alarm clock” and subjected to only one patient at a time.Our robot increase the productivity of nurses and help them in managing the flow of patients.Our robot can move across the hospital ward, go to each bed and provide pills to each patient on its own. It has fully automated drawers for storing pills .It also includes mobile application with three users login doctor,nurse and pharmacy.When patient need assistance from hospital staff he or she can push a button engrave on robot body ,it will send a alert message on mobile application of hospital staff.
Project ObjectivesProject Objectives:
The aim of this project is to:
- Reduce human resources and efforts along with the enhancement of a smart city vision.
- ·Minimize overflow due to increasing patients
- ·To make historical data tracking easier for the authorized personnel of the hospital management, that could be used to track patients medicine intake
- ·Reduce the risk of Contagious diseases like Corona virus Ebola and bird flu frequently make headlines Norovirus (“Stomach Flu”), Influenza, Meningitis, Hand, Foot and MouthhDisease (HFMD), Pertussis, Sexually Transmitted Infections (STIs)
- ·Minimize the workload of the nurses.
- ·This project focuses on the reduction of labour and fleet management, energy saving and improvement in the living standards of the society by contributing to the automated smart city systems.
- ·Contribute something big to the society
- ·As the world is moving towards automation, our Smart Patient Assistant Robot provide an alternate approach to the hospital management system. A step closer to the Smart World.

Implementation Method:
Our robot has fully automated body,it can easily roam in a hospital ward and distribute medicine to each bed.Our robot is connected with mobile application that allows three users logins that includes doctor,nurse and pharmacy for patients by just pressing push buttons.These push buttons sends an alert message on hospital staff's mobile application.For obstacle avoidance we have used ultrasonic sensor that halt robot and sound the buzzer until obstacle move away from its path.Our robot increases the productivity of nurses by saving their time and help them in managing flow of patients.

Dimensions and body design:
We have used 5mm plastic sheet for making our robot body,we have not compromised the outer look of our robot thats why we have used expensive material for the body of our robot.
- Base Area 1’8”x1’8”.
- Base Height 8”
- Upper Body Area 8”x8”.

- Front wheels cart casters.
- Back wheels 4” soft rubber
- Total Height 4’6”
Stepper motor:
Stepper motor is a brushless dc electric motor that divides a full rotation into a number of equal part .We have used stepper motor along with soft rubber wheels for accurate movement of our robot.Along with these stepper motor we have used drive circuits to provide rated current and voltage to each motor.
Raspberry pi 3b+:
- Quad core 64-bit processor clocked at 1.4GHz.
- 1GB LPDDR2 SRAM.
- Dual-band 2.4GHz and 5GHz wireless LAN.
- Bluetooth 4.2 / BLE.
- Higher speed ethernet up to 300Mbps.
- Power-over-Ethernet capability (via a separate PoE HAT)
All the stepper motors are programmed by using raspberry pi 3b+.Ultrasonic senors ,keypad, LCD interface and automated drawers also programmed by raspberry pi.
Keypad and LCD interface:
We have used 4x4 keypad for patient assistance,this keypad provide assistance buttons for patients,patients can get assistance from nurses,doctor and pharmacy by pressing these buttons.
LCD interface for instructions of medicine for patients that how many pills and from which box patient needed to pick .
Ultrasonic Sensors:
It measures the distance by using ultrasonic waves.This sesnsor head emits an ultrasonic waves and receives the wave reflected back from the target. We have used ultrasonic sensor along with buzzer for collision avoidance system of our robot.If some obstacle appears on the track of our robot ultrasonic senor will send command to microcontroller and it will halt our robot until the obstacle move away from its track.
We have used IoT for mobile application that allows three users logins that includes doctor,nurse and pharmacy for patients by just pressing push buttons.These push buttons sends an alert message on hospital staff's mobile application.
