Project Area of Specialization Cyber SecurityProject SummaryOur project is based on augmented reality in which we will be using augmented reality to create interactive books. We intend to cover elementary level course books used in Pakistani schools. The project will help students to learn effectively with interactive books we will create. A mobile application will be created for each book and students can use tabs or mobile phones to interact with books.
One of the key advantages of this project is self learning. Students can get explanations in Urdu which helps them understand the course material effectively and easily. Children can learn and test their knowledge with the interactive Quiz embedded in the lessons.
Following books are currently included in our project.
Aao Bachon Urdu Seekhain by Qamar Ahmed Ali Khan (Urdu), Countdown Second Edition Oxford (Mathematics), Computer Science for Class 9 (Sindh Textbook Board Jamshoro) and Ilm-e-Deen Nizam Education Society Registered (Islamiat).
In Book 1 we will provide the urdu meanings and pronunciation of difficult urdu words used in the chapter, in the form of audio, whole story explanation in audio as well as with the help of animation, Quiz will be conducted of the respective chapter.
In Book 2 we have selected two topics, Multiplication and Division and Area & Parameter.
In Book 3 we will describe the meanings of difficult words especially the computer terms, Audio description of the selected topic in Urdu, Use of animation to describe the components of computer system and Quiz will be conducted of the respective topic.
In Book 4 we have selected 10 Hades. We will provide the pronunciation of complete Hadis as well as its Urdu translation. We will also provide Pronunciation and meanings of Arabic words of Hades. Quiz will be conducted.
In methodology we will use adaptive learning. Through this application children will be able to learn by themselves and it will also help them to enhance their skills.
Children face many challenges to engage in learning; the most intimidating of them all is not having a role to participate in the process.Children need to be encouraged to speak, to discuss, to express their opinions and to solve problems together.It has become very difficult to teach students lessons in many subjects esp.Science,Social studies and Technology due to the lack of learning tools (apart from the conventional classroom teaching). This leads to student disengagement and discontent which results in frequent absenteeism in schools.
Project ObjectivesPrimary objective of this project is to making learning from books more interesting and interactive. We would like create a mobile application for each book to provide interactive learning campanion for kids. The learning campanion app will provide explanation for each topic in the book that kids can listen to again and again. The project also include adaptive learning model to make learning easy.
We intend to create good learning app that is provocative, exploratory, and open-ended. We will have primary input from educators and curriculum developers to make an effective learning tool. This learning app will be designed to make kids smarter, to support in-school learning, and make reading books fun and interesting for kids and adults.
Project Implementation MethodOur whole project is divided into three main modules first is for educational purpose, second for marketing and last for interactive smart board. We will be implementing these modules using augmented reality.
In educational module our aim is to encourage students to learn at their own by making books more interactive. We will create different applications based on student’s course book which will provide explanation in Urdu, solutions with animations, quiz after each section and overall result that shows students their progress. This will help to reduce the dependency of students on others for learning making them capable of self-learning. Initially we have covered four different course book which includes:
1. Islamiat: The application created on this book will help students to understand how to pronounce Arabic words and the Urdu meanings of Arabic by placing camera on a particular target and quiz will be conducted that will help the students to judge themselves.
2. Mathematics: The application created on this book will help students to understand how to apply different operators by providing solution of each question and to make their concepts strong by using graphics along with quiz at the end.
3. Urdu: The application created on this book will help students to understand meanings of difficult words by placing camera on targeted word and easy explanation of chapter along with quiz in the end.
4. Computer: The application created on this book will help students to understand difficult computing terms and internal structure of computing parts by using graphics. This will help students to clarify their concepts. Quiz will be conducted of each section at the end to show the progress of student.
In marketing part augmented reality will be implemented through posters, brochures or banners etc such as on roads so that they will become more interactive for everyone.
In Smart notice board augmented reality will be implemented on university notice boards such as students will move their camera to any specific thing of that notice board and all the details of anything present on the board will appear through augmented reality.

- Applications which will scan the text, images or any other code or pointers, etc. in order to provide more details and explanation.
- We will deliver separate application for every module.
- We will initially deliver four separate applications for each book included in our learning module.
- We will also develop customized application as per the requirement of customer in future.
- We will create our own animations and graphics for our learning module so that students can get better understanding of the topic.
- Explanation and details will be provided in the form of videos.
- We will record audios in order to explain the topics.
