We analyze that day by day two-wheeler accidents are increasing and resulting in huge loss of human lives. So we use the concept of a smart helmet to save the lives from road accidents of bike riders. In Smart Helmet we have a system that ensures the helmet's presence on the rider's head and prevents the drunk rider from riding a bike by sensing the alcoholic substance in the rider's breath. Also, we have a
GSM-based system in Smart Helmet whenever the accident happens it sends an SMS alert to guardian along with accident location.
The objectives of this project are to
- Design of a smart helmet that controls the ignition system by verifying the presence of the helmet and alcohol consumption.
- Implementation of a system that alerts the rescue services in case of an accident.


Smart Helmet will have the following benefits
- provide maximum safety to bike riders
- discouragement to alcohol user
- Technological development for society.
- help to make cities and communities more secure and safe.
- help to ensure the good health of people.
- help to follow traffic rules.
- will be helpful in reduction of the road accidents
HELMET CIRCUIT:

- when the rider puts the smart helmet on his head. Touch sensor(ttp223b) connected inside the helmet senses the helmet presence and gives a signal to Arduino
- similarly, an alcohol sensor (mq3) connected inside the helmet senses the alcohol substances in the rider breath and gives a signal to Arduino
- Arduino processes the sensors data if the helmet is present and the rider is not drunk Arduino serially send data in the form of '1' or 'high' to the bike controlled circuitry
- Bluetooth module (hc05) is used for serial communication between bike and helmet circuits and connected in Master-slave configuration.
- The Bluetooth module in the helmet circuit is configured as a master while the BlueTooth module connected in the bike circuit is configured as a slave.
HELMET CIRCUIT:
- Data send from helmet received through Bluetooth in the form of '1' or '0' Arduino process the data
- if the received signal is '1' then Arduino actuates a single channel relay which as a result turns on the ignition system of the bike and if the received signal is '0' then the relay de-energizes and turn off the bike ignition system.
- Accelerometer (adxl335) is used for accident detection as accidents occur there is a change in acceleration in coordinates accelerometer sense that change and gives a signal to Arduino.
- when the accelerometer detects the accident, Arduino extract the current location of the accident through GPS (NE0 6m) and send this location along with the accident message to rescue services through GSM(sim900A)
- when an accident occurs meantime Arduino gives a signal to relay to turn off the ignition system.
