Project Area of Specialization Wearables and ImplantableProject SummaryIn this project our aim is to make a smart gun that will only be useable by the owner. It will be locked if the owner is not using the gun and cannot be used by someone else.
This project will use the RFID and fingerpirnt identification methods for the security of the Gun. RFID will be used for the instant locking and unlocking whereas finger print will be used for the long term security of the gun. Fingerprint identification is used to activate the circuit, it will come handy if someone steals our RFID and gun. They will require the finger print of owner to turn ON the circuit.
Our project will be helpful for the Gun safety in different security companies, banks, and other defence services where our weapons can be stolen and misused.
Project ObjectivesOur objective is to make smart gun which can only be unlocked and used by its owner. We want to make the weapons more secure. There had been many cases where the guns are stolen and misused. Most of the time guns are snatched from the security gaurds and used agaist them for the robbery. In many cases guns were stolen by the children from there homes and misused.
Our project will make the weapons secure and prevent any misuse even if they are stolen or snatched.
Project Implementation MethodThis system involves the use of fingerprint sensor to unlock the circuit(allow the power to flow from battery to RFID circuit). It will also use RFID tag, which is attached to the finger or wrist of the person using ring or wrist band. RFID tag contains a unique ID numbers. When a person tries to fire a gun RFID gun will read the unique ID of the tag using mutual Induction. After reading the unique ID it will compare it with the already stored ID in the system. If it matches then the system will allow the trigger to be released and fire the gun. We will also study about the design of the operational prototype and detail study about the RFID and power consumption.
Benefits of the ProjectOur project has many advantages.
- It will make the weapon secure.
- Better locking system as compared to the manual locking system.
- Two stages security.
- Weapon cannot be used even if it is stolen.
- Weapon is easy to carry as all the system is inside the gun.
- Use of minimum and lightweight components so that the weight of gun donot increase.
- less power consumption and long battery life.
At the end of this project we will deliver a smart gun heaving RFID and Fingerprint security. fingerprint sytem will allow the battery to give power to the RFID. If we donot provide the valid fingerprint to the system then our circuit will not work even when we bring the RFID tag near the RFID reader because ther is no power given to the circuit.
Once the valid finger is recoganised by the system than the RFID circuit will get the power and will be activated. Our gun is still locked. Once we bring the RFID tag in the range of the reader it will unlock the gun trigger and the gun will be available for the use.
Both RFID and Fingerprint system will remain active for the given amount of time. After the given time and condition they will deactivate and will be activated again by the user.
This activation and deactivation of the system depends upone the user's requirement and can be changed according to the requirement.
