The main aim of the proposed project is to develop a cost effective system which can give voice to voiceless person with the help of Smart Gloves. It means that using Smart Glove by the deaf person enables them to communicate with others which also helps to bridge the gap between person with disability and normal person. Problems faced by the deaf person regarding employment can be overcome by this method. So in the proposed work an intelligent microcontroller based system using Flex sensors will be developed which is able to develop coding for the system to that receives its instruction from gesture recognition system using Flex sensors,to develop a microcontroller based cost effective system to recognize gesture and convert into coded form so that it can be displayed if code matches with predefined codes. The wireless arrangement makes the device more comfortable to be used

For physical disabled persons it’s hard to move on and they require permanently an assistant for a person on wheel chair its tough to move their wheal chair again and again.

For a dumb person there is difficulty in conveying his message.Its time saving that without changing our place we can turn on light, AC or Fan etc.If a disabled person want to call someone for help, it is very difficult for him to call someone for help.In hospitals nursing staff did a lot of efforts as they constantly monitor their patients.our project will provide solutions of all the problem. By detecting the movements of the fingers it will operate the dedicated appliances. 

If a dumb person wants to call someone for help, he/she will ring the bell and the required help will be displayed on the LCD.

Project Objectives Project Implementation Method

1. Theratical Studies:

In this project, Flex Sensor plays the major role. The glove is fitted with flex sensors along the length of each finger and the thumb. The flex sensors give output in the form of voltage variation that varies with degree of bend. This flex sensor output is given to the ADC channels of microcontroller. It processes the signals and perform analog to digital signal conversion. Further the processed data is sent in a wireless manner to the receiver section. In this section the gesture is recognized and the corresponding appliances will be controlled. The portability of this project is a major advantage. Thus with the help of this project, the barrier faced by these people in communicating with the society can be reduced to a great extent.

2. Experimental Studies:

Information from user gestures will be detected by flex sensor which will give information to microcontroller which according to his stored programme will take the decesion and passing from encoder transmitter will transmit these instructions.

At receiving side, receiver will receive the message and decoded by decoder and according to gesture respective appliances will be operated.

3. Method of Analysis:

  1. Literature survey.
  2. Designing of hardware.
  3. Develop a program to control the system.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

In this project smart glove is implemented to capture the hand gestures of a user. Gloves are aimed to convert gesture into physical action and display that also on LCD. In this project smart glove is implemented to capture the hand gestures of a user. Smart gloves having sensors in it captures the movement of user and converts analog input into digital output utilizing voltage divider rule. Then movement is given to microcontroller for further processing. Now gesture array is transmitted using transmitter and receiver. Recognized gestures are matched with prefeeded data and if it matches then action will perform. When the hand will be at 0 degrre (Normal hand position) it will control the five appliances amd when it will be rotated at 180 degree (Palm side oriented upward) it will display the needs of the person on LCD.
