Project Summary

The proposed project is specifically for people suffering from color blindness. Color blindness is the inability to distinguish between certain colors. It is an impairment that exists in around 300 million people worldwide and affects their daily life activities. If we talk about the treatment of color blindness so the treatment for color blindness is still not available for the common people. Either the treatments are too hefty to pay or not have been put to use much. We have used efficient algorithm that improves performance, accuracy and decrease performance time. In this project we will design glasses for color blind people that will differentiate between variations of a color that they are unable to make out. This project will prove to be very helpful and beneficial to them in carrying out their daily life activities. Usage of high computational power is required for this project as by using a single board computer with low computation power will further us from our goal. This device should do the purpose it is made for. This product will take a picture, focus on the center most object and inform the user of its color within seconds. This product guarantees to make everyday tasks easier for its user. Simple tasks like driving, gardening, selecting clothes, cooking and many more becomes harder to perform and takes longer. For this, we came up with a solution that will help them in their daily life activities. Smart glasses that inform the user of the color lying in front of them in a matter of seconds. Many companies have designed contact lenses or glasses to help people see some form of the color that they cannot naturally see. However their products are way too expensive for an average person to afford but our glasses will be cheaper, easily available and will guarantee accuracy and our product will not only allow them to differentiate in variation of a color but also make it easier for them to perform daily life tasks.

Project Objectives

Project contains the following objectives: To design real-time smart glasses that will help them in their daily routine tasks. To use efficient algorithms in our project that ensure immediate results and accuracy To design smart glasses that can tackle all 3 types of color blindness To reduce performance time To design glasses that can are cost effective The back-end would be written in python and loaded on to the Raspberry Pi. A camera module would be required to capture frames A speaker module would be used to notify the output. All of the hardware components would be mounted on simple glasses. This enables the wearer to better perceive and discriminate colors through audio form. These glasses can greatly improve the quality of life of those who experience color deficiency. This device should do the purpose it is made for. If somehow an error occurs, we can reset it and make sure that the problem is solved.our glasses are very reliable in terms of accuracy and battery life. It will inform the user of the color of the object accurately in seconds. This product will also be very reliable in terms of accuracy These glasses will be user friendly and easy to use. The user have to put them on, press the trigger and will be made aware of all the colors that he needs to know.

Project Implementation Method

Our main target in market is to launch our product in health sector for example In eye’s hospital where some of middle class people cannot afford color blind therapies like gene therapy in which doctors find color recognizing gene into the eye, the Brain might be able to rearrange itself allowing the person to see the whole spectrum of colors. Gene therapy is whopping 425,000/eye dollars. These therapies are much costly that a middle class person can’t afford.Color blindness is not a singular condition. It encompasses a range of conditions, from mild to severe that can cause each person to see color differently. Our Real-time glasses are designed to improve the color vision of users through the audio form. The most common types are Protanopia which is a form of partial red-green color blindness. In which the person may see limited results due to the complete inability to see red and green color differences. Reduced color discrimination of shades of blue and yellow is called Tritanopia which is not a type of what is commonly referred to as red-green color blindness but is also a form of color vision deficiency our glasses will help them in their daily life activities. We will also launch our product in optical glasses shops so when any patient come to check their eyes sight and they have the color blindness too they can easily buy and afford our glasses.

Benefits of the Project

Color blindness is a genetic disorder that has no cure till date. People who suffer from color blindness encounter many obstacles in performing daily routine tasks.In this project we will design glasses for color blind people that will differentiate between variations of a color that they are unable to make out. This project will prove to be very helpful and beneficial to them in carrying out their daily life activities. 3 types of color blindness: .Tritanopia Blindness of colors Blue and Yellow . Protanomia/Deuternopia Blindness of colors Red and Green . Monochromacy Blindness of all the colors except black,white and grey The user to understand what shade a certain color is. It will be cost friendly, easily available and will guarantee immediate results.The user will wear the glasses, focus on a CHAPTER 2. BACKGROUND AND LITERATURE REVIEW 8 color in front of the user and the system will inform the color that the user have focused on.This product is very reliable in terms of accuracy and battery life. It will inform the user of the color of the object accurately in seconds. This product will also be very reliable in terms of accuracy.The product will be available and ready at any time anywhere.An example of this can be making sure to get fresh carrots as the only difference between fresh and rotten is its color. So an output can be helpful in differentiating between them. We have used the best algorithms which optimizes the process and reduces time

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The final deliverable of " Smart Glasses For Color Blind People" will be an Hardware product with the Application along with documentation manual having all technical details of the Hardware. It will be developed in Python OpenCV  along with linux. Our smart glasses gives output result in a few seconds user can’t wait too long. The response time of our product will be very quick and impressive. If the user has 2 colors in front of him then our product will handle the user with a very handsome responsive time and the user get both color name or data through a clear audio form. Users can use this product anywhere anytime without any delay because our product has always ready to perform.
