Smart Floor Cleaning Robot
The proposed project is an autonomous floor cleaning robot with the features of vacuum cleaning and wet cleaning of floors. The system designed will be performing the two tasks simultaneously i.e. dust cleaning and wet cleaning of the floors.
The system will be avoiding the obstacles i.e. walls. chairs, tables, etc, during the operation. The robot will have the function of operating at the two modes i.e. Automatic and Controlled. During the automatic mode, the robot will work without the use of any controller and will follow a predefined path for cleaning. Wheras during the controlled mode operation, the robot will be controlled using a controller or Android App.
The robot will also be having the option of tracking, the user can track the position of the robot using GSM.
The robot will work on both i.e. batteries and solar supply.
Objectives:
(i) To design and implement a system by which robot operates autonomously.
(ii) To design a mechanism of sensing the dust and dirt.
(iii) To protect the robot from obstacles i.e. walls. Tables, chairs, etc.
(iv) To ensure the cleaning of the floors efficiently.
(v) To operate the sytem on both batteries and solar supply.
The methodology of proposed project is shown in following figure with the help of block diagram, the brain of the scheme is Microcontroller and other components includes:
(i) Microcontroller
(ii) Ultrasonic Sensors
(iii) Motors
(iv) Motor Driver ICs
(v) Suction Motors
(vi) Relays
(vii) Solar Panel
(viii) Batteries
(ix) GSM Module
The project will be microcontroller based with three different units performing the different tasks that include Suction. Wet Cleaning, Scrubbing.
The Autonomous Floor Cleaning Robot can be used in our daily life routines in homes, offices, hospitals, etc,. The benefits of the projects include:
(i) Time Saving and Effective
(ii) Reduces human efforts for cleaning the floor
(iii) The robot can clean the conjested places easily like underneath the bed and corners of the room.
(iv) The robot is ecofriendly as it has less noise pollution than any other conventional cleaners and can be operated on renewable energy (Solar) also.
(v) Performs multiple options simulatneously like Vacum Cleaning, Wet Cleanig (using cleaning agent) and Scrubbing.
(vi) The robot can be also be controlled wirelessly, thus more secure as there is no direct contact with the system.
The final deliverable will be a Hardware Floor Cleaning Robot with the following technical details:
The Robot will have a switch button for the selection of the mode i.e. Automatic or Manual. The Automatic Mode will operate the Robot autonomously whereas the Manual Mode will use a Android Controller to operate.
The Robot will operate on batteries and on solar also, an LCd connected will indicate the batery charging.
The outer body will be designed using fabrication on 3D from FabLab khairpur and the circuits will be PCB Printed.
