Project Summary

Nowadays IoT is an emerging technology because it is the way to get knowledge of consumer behavior and also helps to improve customer experience. Our project is based on a mobile application. Firstly, the teacher has to update the app if he/she has left on that day. Or if the teacher submits an application for leave before one day, then students get notification on the approval of HOD. The student gets a notification by the app if the related teacher to the subject is absent otherwise no notification is sent. We(admins/teachers) can interact and handle hardware with the help of a mobile app. When the teacher enters the classroom the card reader that is fitted in the doors scans the RFID card. The card of teachers has an RFID chip that stores the information of cardholders and stores it in a database. When the scanner read the RFID it sends a request to the database for relevant information against that RFID. If it matches with a value that is on the backend then-current time against that RFID is stored as arrival time. On exiting time same scanner scans the RFID and stores it as exit time. During the lecture, the teacher has to first update the topic which he/she going to teach. At the end time of the lecture, the teacher has to mark the attendance of students, then update the app if the topic is completed or not. The status of that topic is updated on the database if it is completed or not. On the student side, students can see the completed, incomplete, or continued topics on the app.

Project Objectives

  1. When the teacher enters the classroom for a lecture, his/her card is scanned and the time is saved in the database. The scanner is fitted in the door which scans the RFID cards.
  2. Teachers can turn on/off the electronics of the classroom only i.e., lights, fan, projector, AC. 
    The teacher can only access the light, fans, projectors, and AC of the room when it is time for his lecture.
  3. Admin can also turn on/off the lights, fans, projectors, and AC but not the students.
  4. Through the app, students get notifications or updates that teachers are available today or on leave. The teacher can modify the notification.
  5. Students can see on the mobile app what they have read and what is left to read.
  6. By this teacher have to update daily on app that which topic he/she teaches to students.

Project Implementation Method

We are targeting educational institutions. Firstly we build a mobile app using flutter technology. Designing an elegant UI is our priority. We use firebase to integrate the hardware with the mobile app. When any request is generated from a mobile app (turn on the light) it sends the bool value to the backend(firebase) to turn on or off. The value is updated in the backend then the wifi module of light reads the value from the backend (firebase). The other electronics fans, projectors, and AC's also working on the same scenario.

            We place the laser detector in the door. These detectors detect the RFID cards. Then detectors send the arrival time of the teacher to the backend against that teacher id. Same as leaving time, the detector saves the exit time. The teacher daily updates the lesson that he/she teaches that day. The student gets updates by checking the app that what he/she learns on that day. 

Benefits of the Project

  1. Students don't have to wait for the teacher. They get a notification through an app that the teacher is available or not. This saves most of their time.
  2. Teachers have access to turn on/off the electronics of the classroom through an app. Teachers can also report on the app to admin that there's an issue in projector or any other electronics.
  3. Students can check how many topics are covered and how many are left.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

We build a complete project and give a demonstration that how it all works. When card is scanned by laser detector it get tag id and send to backend. RFID is a method of data collection that involves automatically identifying objects through low-power radio waves. Data is sent and received with a system consisting of RFID tags, an antena, an RFID reader, and a transceiver.
