Smart Boiler System
The main purpose of this project is to develop and control a boiler. The boiler is going to be heated electrically. The parameters that we are going to control are Temperature, Pressure, and Fluid Level. After measuring all these parameters these will go as input to the PLC and our PLC will take action in order to control these parameters. Moreover, all of these parameters will be shown on our HMI (Human-machine interface) through which the user will be able to make some adjustments to the threshold values of the parameters if needed. The values of the parameters are going to be sent to a website, so if someone is not present in the industry, they are able to turn off the boiler using their mobile even if they are a thousand miles from the industry. Moreover, the user can inspect these values via a mobile application.
For the measurement of different parameters of the boiler, we are going to use different sensors. For Temperature, we are doing to use the PT100 which is an RTD (resistance temperature detector) and the output of this sensor is going to be an Analog. This output is going to be taken as an Analog input to the PLC. After getting the value of the Temperature sensor we are going to set a threshold value of the Temperature if the boiler reaches or gets past this threshold value the PLC will generate output and cut off the supply to the boiler and our boiler will be turned off. The same goes for the programming of the pressure sensor. As we are using a pressure transmitter. So there are two Sensors that are monitoring these two parameters and keeping them in check. Moreover, a quite hectic task is the filling of the boiler with liquid we are going to use two Float switches (Upper and Lower Float Switch) If both of these float switches are giving us the Boolean output ‘1’ then it means that the boiler is filled with liquid and if the upper sensor gives the Boolean output ‘0’ then the PLC will generate output and start the pump our boiler will be filled with liquid up to the upper-level float switch. Now comes the part where we are going to create a SCADA Panel for the inspection and control of the Boiler. To create the SCADA panel we are going to use the IGNITION SCADA. First, we will connect our PLC to the IGNITION. After the connection is done we will create a window screen in which we will add buttons and Animations for and add tags to these buttons and animations. The tags we will added to these will be the same as used in the PLC programming software.
As we know that world is moving towards automation and every industry is going to adopt automation techniques and reduce human labor and error. As far as automation of boiler is concerned that can save human lives from bursting of the boiler. And many industries like interloop demand automation of their all machines through PLC from their Engineers. IIOT is the main thing that can help you in controlling parameters from anywhere in the world using the internet through a web browser and mobile app.
The smart boiler system works on IIOT so there is no need of a person to stand near a boiler to control or check its parameters.
We design it in such a way that we can see the parameters on our mobile screen from anywhere in world
And can control parameters also.
Before that boilers were controlled by PLC but they need some labor to check and monitor the parameters with our invasion we reduce labor needs and
A single person now can monitor boilers in the industry and can control their parameters.
That becomes easy to operate
And with our idea of a smart boiler, we reduce the factor of human loss
Like before an operator working near a boiler could be affected by boiler brust.
Now we also increase the life of boilers by controlling all the factors and also making them valuable for humankind
