Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject SummaryThis project concerns the visually impaired population of the world. Detection,
identification and feedback of common objects i.e. the direction and distance of the object
to the visually impaired User through the audio output. The objective of this project is to
detect and identify Common objects associated with the regular life of a visually impaired
human through a camera attached to the sight-level and let the person search and find the
objects by simply sending an audio output via earphones.
The Object Detection and Identification are two different tasks that are used on the SSD
mobile net platform. A real time image captured is the mode of successful object detection
and identification. In the same way, this task is also performed using Cloud for Data storage
and Camera for better performance. Text-to-Speech API completes the next task. The
entire audio from the device as the output is first converted to speech and heard through
earphones. The other task of emergency alert and location tracking to the application will
be done through Google maps, GPS and GSM modules using an emergency button and
buzzer attached to the stick. This project successfully detects and identifies objects and
gives feedback regarding the respective object that is required in the daily life of a visually
impaired person.
The Smart Blind Stick project will meet the following objectives:
? The stick may not always detect all obstacle on the way. Therefore, the objective of this Smart Blind
stick should sense and portray any obstacle to the blind or old age user in the form of speech.
? To make a product, which can help visually impaired and old age people.
? To make the product cost effective as compared to existing products.
? Analyze and process the camera record using Raspberry Pi in real time.
? Detect and recognize objects in front of visually impaired people and design to notify the user about
the recognized objects using voice message.
? To prevent the visually impaired person from any dangerous situation and for that we will sent the
alert message to the contact person of visually impaired nearby using GSM module, and able to track
visually impaired person through GPS tracking.
Project implementation is going to be like this .Python will be used for coding.Object identification and Detection will be done by the algorithims.Rasberry Pi will be used as a controller and attached to a blind stick .Camera will detect the objects with the help of datasets .Algorithims will read the datasets and predict the objects.The blind person will get the voice through headphones connected.GPS and GSM modules will be used to get the location of blind person .Family members of blind person will get the location of blind person through mobile application.The datasets of location of the impaired person will be saves in the cloud for a month .The location first go to app server then it will be saved to cloud so the application user can easily get the locations of a month .Tensorflow and SSD will be used in this project .
Benefits of the ProjectThe benefits of the purposed device is that the visually impaired people will get assistances in their daily life activities and the device have an emergency button for the visual impaired person’s safety so that if an visual impaired person will find himself in danger he/she can press the emergency button and the device will send an notification to the application and also send location and emergency alert message to the family member of the person.The device will be cost effective and visually impaired people will get complete assistants through the voice feedback

visually impaired person from that obstacle.
? Product Deliverable 2: Module that can alert the visually impaired person if the obstacle is
near to him/her and the person can check which object is near to him/her and at which
distance is about to.
