Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryThe main target of this smart dustbin is to monitor the trash level inside the dustbin. The status of trash shows to the client using LCD. This smart dustbin utilized the ultrasonic sensor as the fundamental sensor to recognize the distance of the trash inside the dustbin. The LCD display are used to show the status of the garbage. The microcontroller Arduino Uno are used as the brain of this project.
Project ObjectivesThe human resource such as plastic bag always wasted when the cleaner need to clean up the dustbin although the dustbin is not full. Besides that, when the dustbin is full the user still throws the garbage in the dustbin. The cleaner cannot monitor the current level of garbage in the dustbin so the time to check all the dustbin is wasted.
Project Implementation MethodThe dustbin opens automatically when it senses the signal and closes its hatch after 15 seconds. Likewise, the dustbin comprises of a level detecting ultrasonic sensor that continually measures the level of trash in bin and alarmed us when it filled up. The dustbin presently comprises of a brilliant hardware that transmits this data over the web (or maybe using app) to signal the main garbage collector of the facility to empty the particular garbage bin. We use IOTgecko to build up the online web part for the IoT framework..
Benefits of the ProjectThis bin is of a vast usage in offices, homes and even in public places for garbage management. Eventually we get a fully automated smart dustbin that allows for automated trash cleaning.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableOne of the sensor uses an Ultrasonic signal to monitor the level of garbage in the dust bin and If the level exceeds the set point a warning signal is sent to the concerned Authorities based on an Arduino program and another sensor senses the odour around the dust bin. Thus an hygiene environment is maintained. GSM module and GPS modem are used for signal transmission and for tracking the location respectively.
