In the past, there have been issues with advertising such as:
1)Inexposure to interested customers
2)Immobile or Static Location Advertisement
3)Environmental pollution
4)Wastage of resources
In order to combat these issues, our team came up with a solution of creating a customized device that offers D-OOH (Dynamic Out-Of-Home) advertising and can be mounted on a carrier such as a vehicle. Data were collected from residents of Islamabad via questionnaires and google forms. This data contained questions such as the preferences of those people when it came to purchasing products. There were 13 categories of products which were: 1)fashion and beauty 2) mobile accessories 3) electronics and home appliances 4) bikes and vehicles 5) business and industrial 6) jobs 7) animals 8) books 9) sports 10) kids' items 11) health/medical 12) food and 13) agriculture. Data was also collected concerning how much they can afford to pay for a single product. This data will be collected throughout the project and is stored in our database which is stored on our server.
GPS and raspberry pi will be the main components connected to this device. Machine Learning and GIS libraries will be used to program the raspberry pi such that it reads the GPS coordinates and changes the advertisements on the screening device on the basis of the preferences and affordability of the customers in that area. The machine learning algorithm makes use of survey-based data in the database as training data. Clients can register online to avail of our services through our online web interface. The web interface offers site suitability services such as land use selection (the ideal business to set up in a given location) and site selection (ideal location to set up a new business). The site suitability services make use of the data stored in the database along with routing data. Our project will serve as an additional source of livelihood for those riders who are willing to attach our devices to their cars as we will pay them. Our clients will pay us to play their advertisement on our screen and then we will then pay the riders for taking this screen to different areas of Islamabad and advertising our products on the screen.
1) To develop a Vehicle-Mounted Device/Application for Smart Advertisement of Products in Islamabad using Machine Learning and Geo-Informatics .
2) To create a web interface that offers online registration, site selection and land use selection services.
A customized device will be created using core programmed raspberry pi, digital screen and GPS as the main components. Machine Learning and GIS libraries will be used to design it such that it reads the GPS coordinates and changes the advertisements on the basis of the preferences and affordibility of the customers in that area. The machine learning algorithm makes use of survey-based data in the database as training data. Clients can register online to avail our services through our online web interface. The web inteface which makes use of Javascript libraries, HTML and CSS offers site suitability services such as land use selection (the ideal business to set up in a given location) and site selection (ideal location to set up a new business).
Technical details of the project are:
1.Software System: The software is designed using a machine learning algorithm that filters data based on preferences and affordability. The data is stored in a database and is used as training data for the algorithm. Major python libraries used are pandas, haversine and numpy.
2.Customized Device: The customized device is a display system. It may be a tablet or a projection film. It will be put up at the rear of the car. A projector will be used to project the advertisements on the projection film. The software will be programmed into the raspberry pi and it will be connected to the projector via an HDMI cable. A GPS will be connected to the raspberry pi.
3.Web Interface: The web interface is designed using HTML, CSS and Javascript libraries.
