The Multilevel Inverter can also be used in ambulance or life saving equipments where the high output power required from medium voltage source of medical equipments so it can turn DC to AC in higher amount which increase the efficiency and competence of equipments
Project ObjectivesThe main objective of this project are :
- Propose a model that includes least number of power electronic components
- Simplify the problem of undesired low order harmonics by the selection of appropriate angle.
- Hardware implementation of designed cross-switched topology using digital signal processing (DSP).
- Simulate the entire system in MATLAB-Simulink
The cross-switch MLI was constructed by synthesize an interface between software and a number of hardware components. The components are cross-switch inverter, TMS320F28335 digital signal processor (DSP), DC sources and gate drivers. The generated signals from DSP transferred to gate driver’s circuit to 11 switches on the multilevel inverter. The DSP output was used to generate the results.
The design and implementation of the cross-switched multilevel inverter was clearly explained and the analysis between the proposed topology and other topologies has been demonstrated which helped assessing the importance of cross-switched inverter over other MLI’s. Furthermore performance, efficiency and harmonization of the inverter were validated by (NLC) Nearest Level Control the modulation techniques is used .Thus, the study shows that the output results in terms of frequency, total harmonic distortion and output voltage were very similar as well as perfectly matches with the results achieved from simulated and hardware model.
Benefits of the Project- Generate high voltage levels with less number of power electronic components which can reduce the overall cost.
- No voltage balancing issues as it does not needs any DC link capacitors

The primary purpose of inventing this new inverter topology was to eliminate their Harmonics.
