Simulation of Bionic Glove for Rehabilitation of the Paralyzed Hand
Project Area of Specialization Biomedical EngineeringProject SummaryParalysis is a neurological disorder that causes immobility of a specific part or the whole body. A paralyzed patient may not be able to perform his or her daily activities. Stroke and spinal cord injury may have similar effects on the body and would require effective treatment. In such cases, rehabilitation plays a vital role in the early recovery of the paralyzed and the stroke affected patients. A major difficulty to overcome in providing repetitive therapy is that the patient is required to spend Long hours at the clinic under the constant supervision of the physiotherapist. This is very tiring to the patient throughout the procedure. These limitations are overcome by the proposed bionic glove as it is a therapeutic device which provides rehabilitation activity by assisting the movement of the paralyzed fingers of patients.
Project ObjectivesThe basic objective of this project is
- Hand therapy after spinal cord injury.
- For Elbow Flexion & Extension
- For Fingers Flexion & Extension
Our glove contains a control system and a servo motor to exert force on fingers to move them. We are using multiple sensors to detect the angle of motion and that signal will transmit to the motor and then motor will exerts force on fingers according to the signal. We will use vibrating motor for the flow of blood and we can control it by a key.
Benefits of the Project- 1-Therapeutic Device
- 2-Hand and Arm Therapy
- 3-No physiotherapist required
- 4-Save your time
- 5-No hectic process require
- 6-Save money
Our project contains two parts 1-Transmission 2-Receiving both parts are wearable and a single person can wear both parts.
Conditions:
This project is for monoplegia patients whose only one arm is affected so they can wear transmitting side of working arm and receiving side on non-working arm. When they make certain formation on transmitting side same formation will make on receivng side. Our main goal is fingers and elbow movement.
