Air travel is getting more convenient these days. People often choose to travel by air rather than buses/trains for domestic routes. This rapid growth in air travel leads to some serious issues like mismanagement at airline counters, airport congestion and many others. Especially in this pandemic situation, overcrowded airports can be dangerous regarding health concerns. The purpose of this project is to provide a self-service and contactless environment to avoid congestion at the airport. Self-boarding helps to ensure free-flowing passenger traffic, raise the efficiency and performance of airports and airlines, reduce costs in terms of staff and the provision of time and effort, and improve on-time performance.

Project Objectives

The objective behind this  project is to restructure the traditional check-in model which uses the Common User Terminal Equipment system which includes manual check-in and manual boarding card  issuance. After replacing it with Common User self-service technology it will be more reliable to use and will be beneficial for both, airline and airport .

Project Implementation Method

This Project consists of both Hardware and Software parts. The Following Sensors will be used in this project :

HMI (Human Machine Interference):

HMI is used for the conversation Between Machine and User, in which Machine asks details from the user and then users enter their date through HMI.

Weight Sensor:

Self-boarding machine has a weight limitation feature, if the luggage is overweight, then the boarding pass will not be generated by the machine

MRZ (Machine Readable Zone) Scanner:

Self boarding machine is also capable of Scanning MRZ code. If the client has a passport, automatically data will be filled by scanning MRZ code

Boarding passes Printer:

After completion of the whole Process, the Boarding pass will print through the Thermal printer.

GSM Module:

After the finalization of Registration, a confirmation message will be sent to the Client’s registered mobile number.

Benefits of the Project
