Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryThis search and rescue drone works at sea which saves the drowning people that are unable to get back to shore. It gets the GPS coordinates of drowning person from its wrist band which is drowning and launch towards it and take floating device to the drowning person and drop it at exact above it and then return to launch position.
Project Objectives- To send the drowning person's location to the drone by providing GPS coordinates.
- To save a drowning person by providing a life jacket to it.
- To return to launch position safely.
- To minimize the incidents of drowning that happen worldwide.
- At first wrist band is made using GPS and a radio transceiver that sends location which is got by GPS to send it to the drone.
- Another radio transceiver that is connected with raspberry pi receives the coordinates of a drowning person
- Whenever raspberry pi receives the coordinates of the location through the transceiver it starts the flight in the direction of the received coordinates by sending commands to the flight controller according to it.
- After reaching the drowning person's location the raspberry pi drops the life jacket to it.
- After dropping the life jacket raspberry pi commands the flight controller to return it to flight position.
This project aims to save the drowning person timelessly and effectively. Whenever people go into the sea then an inrush current comes and take one to deep water and they are unable to swim back to shore, a lifeguard present at that sea can sometimes not see that person or if it sees him then it takes so much time to reach to the drowning person even for lifeguard that the drowning person eventually dies. This project help in such a way that it immediately reaches the drowning person's location and drops the floating device to save him immediately and making the rescue more effective.
By implementing this drone we can save more lives than are currently being not saved by lifeguards due to distant position.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableA working model of this drone will be delivered which has the capability to reach the drowning person in under 2 minutes and drop the floating device by using image detection technology as accurately as possible. This drone communicates with the wrist band of the drowning person using a radio transceiver making it quite a big range so that the maximum area can be covered.
