Score Sorcery is a standalone companion website for football fans over the globe. Along with results and score prediction it provides visitors with all the information a dedicated football fan yearns for, including line ups and stats and users custom lineup builder, all portrayed in a simple yet beautiful interface. Simply put the website allows a user to access any kind of match related information, keeps track of their favorite teams, customizes the view based on user preferences and keeps them up to date with optional match notifications while being completely free of cost.
Football is a Global sports and has fans in almost every country. Despite this there is a lack of application that provides everything that a football fan needs.
Our team, being avid football fans ourselves, faced the same difficulty and have now devised a solution to it. Following are the main objectives of our project:
-Analyze and format the data we gain from the API using the principles of data science.
-Apply machine learning algorithms to predict the outcome of the upcoming matches, the goals, and the lineups.
-Develop an interactive and secure companion website to display all the information and help fans connect with the game much better.
-Record all the observations including the DS and ML techniques as to use them in our future projects regarding these domains.
Initially, the project consists of a website only, and later on, a mobile application would also be developed.
The project team consists of members with various skill sets along with their data science and machine learning background. Everything from designing the UI, developing the prototype to managing the database and deployment will be completed within the group.
The data will be collected from the API provided and from that data the prediction of different sorts will be implemented. The model used will be XGBOOST for its accuracy. The model will be trained and tested in python with the previous seasons data.
The data collected will also be displayed to the user in a meaningful way so that the user can analyze the fixtures itself.
For the front end of the website, we will be using common technologies including HTML5, CSS3, Bootstrap4, Javascript, and jQuery. Our backend developer has experience in Nodejs and express and therefore our backend would be based on these. The website would be deployed on Heroku cloud platform while we have chosen mongodb and mysql as our databases.
While the main beneficiaries of our project are the football community and fans around the world, our project does have a great educational and scientific application.
Following are some of the benefits of our project:
-A standalone companion website will promote football overall while providing the fans with a great interactive platform to get more involved with their favorite sport.
-All the information, statistics, and the predicted results that our project produces would be available for free to the community.
-The information and experience we gain from using and applying the data science and machine learning concepts would be shared and will not only be helpful to us in our future projects but also in general to both these fields.
-Data science and Machine learning are what the future industry and business rely upon. We believe by having a dive into these fields we can contribute to our county's developing industry.
-The future iteration of the project includes displaying football merchandise and other related ideas. This will help the local vendors a lot.
The Final Website will include everything a Football Fans need.
It will have Historic Data, Fixtures stats and Prediction, Quiz Trivia to sharpen the knowlegde and user custom lineup Builder.
The Final Website will be deployed and will be ready to use for the users all around the Globe.
