Scavenging Energy Via Human Walking
Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject SummaryIn era of 5G where all devices will communicate with each other then there should be huge problem faced which is battery usage. Even the cell phone usage is growing rapidly at global level. This paves the path for enhanced energy consumption that has reached the critical level. Like E-business replacing marts and the millions deals will be done through cellular phones and other similar devices. A major problem is managing such devices is remote inefficient energy source available to date.
The current project is a morel contribution in onsite energy production and availability to recharge these devices when and where required. The main idea of this project is to harvest the energy while walking by exerting pressure on sensors to produce energy which will not deplete the environment and is cause of renewable energy. The concept is to utilize energy by walking of person into the useful form. The sensors are excited by exerting pressure on them. The output of these sensors in AC voltage so, to convert it into DC voltage this voltage will passed through a bridge rectifier. The bridge rectifier will convert it into pulsating DC. As the voltage is not uniform all the time so capacitors are used to store the voltage at input so that we can maintain the voltages at input. Boost converter is used to step up the voltage to the required level so that battery can be charge from it.

Project ObjectivesThe broad scope of our project lies with the mobile phone industry in such a way that it can be utilized as a permanent as well as a temporary means of charging mobile phone. Following are the objectives:
- To harvest energy from human.
- To store that energy in storage unit.
- To transmit energy into portable device.
The main structure of the harvester is a sandwich structure, where a multilayer PZT film is sandwiched between two wavy surfaces of a movable upper plate and a lower plate. The multilayer PZT film is fixed on the lower plate, and made out of a few PZT layers which are wired in equal for a high yield current. When the upper plate is subject to a compressive force produced by foot, the upper plate moves down and the PZT film is stretched along 1-axis simultaneously. This prompts a piezoelectric field made inside each PZT layer, driving the free electrons in the outside circuit to collect on the upper and lower 3-hub surfaces (anodes) of each PZT layer to screen the piezo-potential. At the point when the force is lifted, the upper plate goes up and the PZT film is loose, consequently the piezo-potential reduces, bringing about discharging the collected electrons. The sandwich structure is described by the internal wavy surfaces, where circular segment molded scores and curve formed ribs exist. The flow chart of the project can be seen below:

Figure 3:CAD Model
The uniquely planned surfaces empower the PZT film to create a huge longitudinal disfigurement and diminish the gatherer thickness, which upgrades the collecting execution and makes it conceivable to incorporate the reaper into a shoe whose internal space is restricted. A unique force applied by foot on the upper plate drives the electrons in the outer circuit to stream to and fro with a rotating current (AC) yield. The AC output of the sensor is converted into DC by passing it through rectifier, boosted up and is given to the storage device. Thus, battery gets charged and is used to drive portable Electronic device.
Benefits of the ProjectThe proposed project has a wide variety of technological and socio economic benefits for the country. Some of them are as follows:
• As renewable energy is an inevitable future of our country, the proposed Project could be manufactured and produced widely in the country, providing a strong boost to the country industry.
• The proposed Project will have a wide variety of other integration of other fields for futuristic control and advancements such as IOT, Wireless mobile charging etc.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableMechanical Risks
Pressure exerted on piezoelectric material. The first mechanical risk is that in case of increased pressure beyond the limits, sensor material may not bear it and get damaged i.e. cracked or broken.
Electrical Risks
- Current and Voltage Sensor
The current and voltage sensors should have enough capability to measure that value of currents and voltages that are to be expected as per the calculations.power is calculated through equation
- W = V * I
- f = m ? g
- V = ? (g33 ? h ?( f /d 2? ?/ 4))
- Battery Selection
The batteries to selected should have enough power storage capacity to store enough power so that demonstration can be given by driving the car and also the power generated would have enough space to get stored in the battery
