Because there is no designated parking area, drivers are free to park their vehicles anywhere they find a place in a disorganized manner, obstructing regular traffic flow. As a result, traffic congestion occurs. Furthermore, most properties in metropolitan cities like Lahore, Karachi, and Peshawar have a less parking ratio against the rapidly increasing population and civilization, creating a major problem. Similar cases may be found in the city's marketplaces, offices, shopping malls, industries, and many other organizations.
The rotary parking system is an automated parking system that uses a rotating technique to park in a very small area. This rotating parking concept makes use of certain parking shelves that are stacked vertically and revolve. As an actuator, a stepper motor, an RFID module, and an Arduino Uno module serve as the controller for all of the aforementioned devices. It may give the combined advantages of flexible operation without the need for an attendant, integrated security, and the lowest possible risk of conveyance damage.
A single gate is used for the entrance and exit of a car in the Rotary parking concept. The vehicle is parked after a weight check by the system and turning the entire structure (like a chain) once the driver exits the safety zone, and scans the card, thus clearing the entrance space for the incoming vehicles. A parked vehicle may be retrieved by scanning the card at the car's location, and the system turns the platform autonomously until the required car is found.
It can accommodate 6 cars in a space of two cars in an economical manner. It can offer the benefits of flexible operation, as well as integrated security and a low risk of conveyance damage.
Making a rotary parking system prototype as a graduation project is a very helpful issue that can help the project team practice and illustrates different discipline that is offered in Mechanical Engineering Department at CECOS University.
Project Objectives- Introduce such a system (rotary parking system) that can park up to 6 cars in a space of 2-3 cars to overcome congestion.
- Provide a regular traffic flow and a clean environment by reducing the burning of hazardous gases
- Introduce an automatic and user-friendly system with an RFID card scanner rather than using push buttons and manual input devices
- Introduce a weight check feature to check the car weight before the entrance to avoid overweight and system failures.
- Enhance system security by introducing a cards scanner to park/exit to avoid card theft
- Provide a highly balanced system with the cross/opposite numbering of the platforms to avoid unbalancing and structure failure
- Overcome the weight distribution problem in the previously designed rotary systems.
Based on our design and numerical analysis, we have selected the different materials for different functions. The first step is to fabricate the structure and install the required shafts, bearings to rotate the shafts, housing to hold the bearings, chain sprockets, platforms, and a DC motor. We have scaled down all of them for the prototype.
Once we have done with the frame, we have to make the automation possible. We are going to use an RFID module, cards, Arduino, microcontroller, and some other electronic components.
The project is still in progress and the next we are going to achieve is to test the system on different weights and at different speeds to check its feasibility and sustainability.

Our project is still in progress and we will give all the technical details once we execute it and test the prototype.
