Robotic Grass Cutter machine
Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryEnvironmental pollution and Energy crisis is the major issue mankind is facing now-a-days. Traditional grass cutting machines add to pollution as well as consume more energy . These Mowers are used to cut grass world wide, but different machines have different pros and corns. Simple grass cutters use more human effort and energy consumption. Our idea is to make remote control solar based mowers which energy efficient ,harmless and effortless.
CONCLUSION In this project we will design a grass cutting machine which is solar powered and can be controlled by any smart phone, to make is harmless sensors will be introduced which after detecting any obstacle stop the cutter blade. It uses four powerful DC motors all controlled with a microcontroller (Aurdino).
Project ObjectivesThe main Objective is to built a machine more efficient harmless, consumes less power, uses solar energy thus environment friendly. Due to increase in environmental pollution small changes will contribute more. A smart grass cutting machine like this is an ideal example of revolution. Its user friendly the whole system can be controlled by a smart phone. Its just like you are playing a game.
Project Implementation MethodThe prototype we are designing has a microcontroller(aurdino), acting as brain of the whole system. Four DC motors are used movement and direction control. These motors are connected with Aurdino using motor drivers. Fifth motor is also used for cutting purpose. A sharp blade is mounted on that motor which cuts the grass. Now talking about sensors Ultra sonic sensors are used for object identification in works on real time these sensors are used to avoid any obstacle or living being in its way. These sensors are connected to Aurdino all the information is delivered to this microcontroller when any obstacle is detected it send a command to motors to stop hence avoiding any obstacle in its way. Now question arises how this system is powered? So the whole system is powered by solar panel mounted on top.
Benefits of the ProjectThis project will help reducing pollution tradition lawn mowers create as it will use solar energy to power them. Moreover it will lessen the human effort to zero using it will be just like playing a game as it can be controlled by any smart phone. Now talking about safety as mowers have fast moving blades to cut the grass they can be pretty harmful for living beings So, for safety sensors are introduced as any obstacle or living being is detected it stops the cutting blade. Hence making it harmless.
Technical Details of Final DeliverablePrototype has a microcontroller that has 14 digital input/output pins (of which 6 can be used as PWM outputs), 6 analog inputs, a 16 MHz crystal oscillator, a USB connection, a power jack, an ICSP header. All the other components are controlled by this microcontroller. 5 DC motors each having amount of 360° turns, or revolutions, a motor does in a minute is its RPM value. So each has a RPM of 24000 making them very powerful and efficient. Motors have high amount of torque also. Solar panel we are using is a Monocrystalline panel it has 3wp of power 6V of voltage and 0.5 amp pf current also having an efficiency of 16 %.Talking about sensor we will use ultra sonic sensor it uses sound waves to detect obsticals. Body is plastic made and its raged. The whole system is synchronized with each other and is deliverable easily connections are made simple and the final product will be fully operational.
