In today’s era of digitization, the focus of making our institutions digital or simply we can say that, making a smart institution has been integral part of our education system. Currently in places such as universities, colleges, schools a manual calculation to record the attendance and entrance and exit record of the students is used. This is done by checking the issued card manually by passing through main gate and attendance sheet for student’s signature to record their presence. Details are written in a register, future analysis of which takes a lot of time and is cumbersome. The aim of our project work is to reduce human efforts in monitoring the entrance and exit and the attendance of university students and faculty members by employing a user friendly and automated way that can be using an RFID security-based system. This will save time and help to identify students with attendance short-falls. Further detail of any student can be obtained within a few clicks at any time. This system specifies an application of RFID and database record entries. RFID is one of the parts of Automatic Identification Technology and it is fast & reliable for identifying any object. Our system eliminates time consuming method of manual card checking and waiting as well as maintains record of data entries which can be used for future administrative and security purpose.

Project Objectives

Objective of Project 
When the RFID reader detects the RFID card, it will send the unique ID to the microcontroller via serial terminal. With the help of suitable programming, we need to compare the received card ID. With the Id’s that are already stored in the database. Once, if any of these ID are match with the received card ID, then the corresponding record stored in that ID will be displayed in the system and the attendance for the name stored in the corresponding number is marked. If unauthorized card is detected, then it will reject that entry. Tag works in any environmental condition. RFID technology provides tactical and better comfort and promises an increased effectiveness and improves efficiency. Hence this project can be very much useful and can be implemented in real time application for security purpose.

Project Implementation Method

Here we use waterfall model because it is easy to use and understandable.

Implementation Method:

RFID stands for Radio Frequency Identification Device. RFID cards contains a unique microchip that holds information of student and semester and Department details with a unique ID. Card is automatically scan at the access gates at each terminal, and the gate will open when your card or unique ID is valid.
With this project you can Track Student, Visitor and Faculty Members as they pass through a specific point of entry. This allows you to Check-In or Check-Out the student, Visitor and Teachers as they come and go.
