Project Summary

Cars are such a marvelous machine in the history of the human being. They transform our way of living over the past century. Due to globalization and increasing transportation, the demand for cars began to rise. This trend starts to follow in both developing and non-developing economies. Since developed countries have the infrastructure for automobile manufacturing, the demand is low as compared to their supply. On the other side in developing countries like Pakistan to high prices, an average person can't buy cars.


In the last few decades, a new trend of mini and subcompact cars began to follow in Europe and other developed countries. Since these cars are compact. They prove to be very economical and easy to maneuver in the city. Due to high tax duty, these cars are difficult to afford or ordinary  Pakistan. The primary source of transportation in Pakistan are bikes and rickshaws. Bikes have a seating capacity of 2 people. But overloading is very common on the road that causes several accidents. Rickshaws on the other are also means of public transport but these to the medium cannot take place of public transport due to discomfort and safety issues.


Our goal in this project is to make a microcar that can replace the conventional bikes and rickshaws at a comparative cost. We call this project “Revolution” that brings toward the current automotive era. We will build cars for small families that don't have enough resources to buy expensive cars at affordable cost and safety features.


There is a sudden boom in today's world about the world transition toward electric vehicles. The reason is simply that these vehicles are smokeless means they are eco-friendly for the environment. But on the dark side, batteries are the most toxic component for the environment because they cannot be disposed of and recycled. Batteries are expensive to replace. They have a short life span. It will take some time for this technology to become readily available. Meanwhile, this microcar can accelerate this process towards a clean future.

Project Objectives

Vision Statment 

Our vision is to make car accessible for every person in the country. This car will be economical and easier to maintain as compared to conventional cars. We include safety as one of the most important features that are missing in the case of two and three wheels vehicles. We want to bring revolution in the automotive sector of the country by introducing smart cars. This car will not only bring economic benefit but also raise the social status of the person in the society.

Business goals

We want to introduce this car in the market at a competitive price as compared to it,s competitors. Since we are utilizing the country's resources we saving millions of dollars in revenue that is going out from the country for importing automobiles. This car is very easy to mass manufacture because the majority of the components used in this car locally manufactures. This car will also promote the Pakistan automotive sector and bring many new jobs to the country.

Objective

 

Following is the list of objects that we want to attain by the end of this project.

  • Minimize the chances of road accidents by making a safer and smarter car.

  • Saving the million of dollar revenue that is going out from the country for the import of cars.

  • Reduction in carbon footprints and minimizing the fuel consumption by using small engines.

  • Make car affordable for every person.

  • Raise the social status and comfort of the average person.

  

Project Implementation Method

This project can be completed in two phases. In phase one we will develop the chassis of the car while in the second phase we will work on the bodywork and the final shape of the car.

Following is the list of tasks completed that can be accomplished in phase 1 of this project.

  • First of all the chassis of the car is made by using a 2” by 2” mild steel pipe. This pipe is used to build the mainframe of the car on which the other components can be attached

  • After the chassis, we attached the back differential with the mainframe.

  • After taking proper calculation the engine mounting of the car is built on the chassis.

  • Wishbone arms are attached on the front side of the chassis mounting.

  • The front two coil-over spring shocks will be attached with the front mounting of the chassis.

  • The rear two shocks are attached to the chassis body that supports the whole frame.

  • Are four wheels along with the tire hubs are attached to the mainframe.

  • The engine is placed on the mounting of the chassis.

  • Once the rolling chassis is completed we attached the Steering and rack and pinion system on the front side.

  • After that  front, two seats will be attached with the mainframe 

  • At last, we riveted an 18mm mild steel sheet on the floor to complete the chassis part of the car

The following steps will be accomplished in phase 2 of this car.

  • First of all, we made the template of this car on a wooden sheet.

  • Then the template is mirrored to obtain the other side of the car.

  • Next, the pattern of the car is prepared with the help of wood.

  • This pattern is used to make the mold of this car 

  • Once the mold is finished we can use it to make the body of the car with the help of fiberglass.

Benefits of the Project

The microcar is beneficial in terms of both safety and economic point of view. Following is a list of some benefits of this project.

Safety Feature:

The majority of the accidents that occurred on the roads of Pakistan happened on the motorcycle. Out of accident victims, the majority of them received head injuries. Bikes have a seating capacity of 2 people. But in our country mostly 3-4 people are sitting on the bikes including children on the front side. The microcar saves this problem by providing a safe and comfortable place for sitting children and adults.

Saving in FOREX

every year we spend millions of dollars on the import of cars. A report published by a newspaper shows that Pakistan spends 531 million dollars on the buying of automobiles in just one quarter of the year 2019. Not only do we spend money on the import of cars but we also have to rely on the other countries for the availability of their spare parts.We also need to import fuel for these cars. In this way, a huge amount of revenue is going out of the country. That can utilize on other development projects of the country.

Reduction in Carbon Footprint

 When we use small vehicles it will consume much lesser fuel as compared to conventional cars. In this way, it will reduce several carbon footprints annually. Furthermore, low fuel consumption also saves a lot of money that will burn out in conventional cars. 

Low fuel consumption

When we use mini automobiles their weight is much less as compared to conventional cars. In this way, a small-capacity engine is enough to power this car. The small engine will consume less fuel and became the more economical choice for middle-class people.

Increasing the social status

 In our society cars are considered a symbol of prosperity. When an average class person is driving his car it will increase his social status in society. He can easily go to those places where he cannot go due to limited transport. resources. Females can also easily drive these microcars due to their small size. Social life can dramatically increase in our society by the introduction of this microcar.

Ready for mass production

Due to readily available parts, this car is very easy to manufacture on a commercial scale. We don't need to import spare parts from other countries. When this car is prepared locally it will create a large opportunity for the local people for jobs. We will utilize our local talent without relying on other countries. We will also export this car to other countries to strengthen the economy of the country.
