Project Area of Specialization Mechatronics EngineeringProject SummaryA collision avoiding Quadcopter capable of flying using an android application whilst avoiding collision with the nearby objects via wireless communication while utilizing microcontrollers and sensors.
Project Objectives- Develop a quadcopter that is able to run perfectly with the remote controlled system, either through an android phone or the traditional R/C controller.
- Enhance it in such a way that it never collides with any object during the flight operation.
- Attach an additional camera feature to make videos/take pictures during the flight and also to control it without physically looking at it.
The Implementation Phase will include the following aspects:
1.Assembling the structure
After gathering all the required components, we will start assembling the structure of quadcopter. Which will include chassis assembly, motors attachments and a base.
2.Basic flight operation
After assembling, we’ll attach the Arduino board and the reaming wiring of the motors with receiver module and motor shield. This would result in our first basic flight test.
3.Collision avoidance system attachment
After the success of basic flight tests, we’ll start working on the collision avoidance system. The goal is to make it in such a way, that during a flight if the control is lost and the object/building/wall is near or in a critical range the quadcopter will automatically avoid colliding with it, and will move away from it.
4.Camera attachment
After the success of basic flight and collision avoidance, we’ll move toward camera attachment. We’ll use a camera, which will be connected to android device via Bluetooth/Wi-Fi, and will provide live video feed. Also we can take pictures or record videos during the flight.
Benefits of the Project1. Less expenses than that quadcopter which is available in market.
2. Custom built, any further changes/features can be made later on.
3. More smaller/bigger sizes of quadcopters can be made and sold if some one wants, which means a small business could be started and it can be used as a startup too.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableProject is in progress currently.
1. Based on arduino mega hardware.
2. currently communication is on bluttooth module and will shift to a new radio frequency module named LORA module/tranmitter-reciever.
3. Simonk 30A (4 ESC's).
4. 4 1000KV BLDC motors.
5. F450 Frame with landing gear.
6. Andoid app is built through which motors are being controlled. Requires enhancements.
7. 5200mAh Li-Po battery.
8. MPU-6050 Gyro-Accelerometer combo.
