Project Area of Specialization Artificial IntelligenceProject SummaryDue to the ever-growing number of vehicles and unpredictable mobility patterns of vehicles, traffic congestion can be a serious problem in a country of dense population. At pack up times of offices and schools, the roads usually get blocked due to an enormous number of vehicles on the road which leads to the waste of precious time of passengers as well as a waste of fuel. We came up with the idea to provide a feasible solution to the users in finding traffic congestion on selected paths where traffic is highly congested during rush hours. The project focuses on finding recurrent and non-recurrent traffic congestion along with the estimated length of the congestion by computing its volume and estimated ending time of the congestion. The surveillance cameras installed at different locations will give input to our system of specific location on user request, which then counts number of vehicles such as cars, buses, trucks and motorbikes, and accident on roads using deep neural network algorithms such as yolo (for vehicle detection) and faster RCNN (for accident detection). The system will be controlled using an android application. The user will select a specific destination, the system will get the video and process it further to find traffic congestion
Project Objectives- In an accurate and affordable way, we will benefit to people in order to solve their problem by installing cameras at different locations where traffic is congested at selected rush hours of the day.
- Drivers will reach their destinations in less time without facing unexpected traffic in their way.
- Environment will be clean and there will be less chances of accidents due to traffic congestion.
- The application will inform the user about the estimated time to end the congestion.

- If the congestion takes more time to end and the user don’t have enough time to wait, So the user can change the route to reach his destination.

We will use Evolutionary method for development of our project because Evolutionary model is a combination of both iterative and incremental approach to software development. The Evolutionary model divides the development cycle of project into smaller, incremental waterfall models in which we are able to get access to the product at the end of each cycle.
