Project Area of Specialization Electrical/Electronic EngineeringProject Summary Real Time Collision Detection & Warning System in Dense Fog Based on IoTThe most common mean of transportation is a vehicle. Fog is a natural weather phenomenon that is common in Pakistan during winters. Driving in Foggy conditions results in a lot of fatal accidents resulting in loss of material as well as human lives. With an increase in population, there is an increase in the number of accidents that happen every minute. These road accidents are unpredictable. There are situations where most of the accidents could not be reported properly to nearby ambulances on time. A mechanism is needed to warn the drivers about possible collision and once an impending collision is detected, authorities need to be alerted. An IoT based real-time collision and warning system is the solution to our problem. Calculates the distance between vehicles and if the vehicle is likely to collide, generates a warning. Analyze the severity of impact based on data from IMU vehicle acts like full-duplex which transmits its data to the central server for processing and accessing any hazardous situation. Gather information from the devices and update them on the server.
Project ObjectivesThe objectives of the project are to be able to,
• Develop a vehicle collision detection system to avoid accidents based on technology.
•Our collision detection system captures the geographic location of vehicles, raw data of individual vehicles and server processes this data and generates alert for all nearby vehicles which help tack precautions and calculates distance among vehicles nearby.
•This system is very useful in foggy areas where visibility is poor or short due to dense fog.
Project Implementation Method•This system model is based on server, GPS(GLOBAL POSITIONING SYSTEM), GSM(GLOBAL SYSTEM FOR MOBILE COMMUNICATION) to track all the devices and process their current location data to find out collision chances and generate warnings to avoid accidents.
•The GPS device captures the location and speed of the vehicle.
•All these details are transmitted to the server. The server receives the data from a device and store in a database.
•After storing the data, the server processes the received data from the device and transmits the processed data to the nearby respected vehicle and generates a warning if any vehicle is close to it.
Benefits of the Project•This project will help drive avoid accidents by being more aware of their surroundings. This awareness from the decrease of distracted drivers due to early warning system in the application.
• The project uses real time data from a network of cars that alerts drivers to upcoming dangerous situations.
•Safe driving during fog.
•Easy detection of collision.
•Make traveling safer during fog.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableThis system model is based on server, GPS, GSM to track all the devices and process their current location data to find out collision chances and generate warnings to avoid accidents.
