Spark plug, this small size invention plays a very important role in the functioning of our bikes and cars. In fact, if this part is not properly functioning then your respective vehicle is of no use as it passes the flow of electric current to your vehicle. The purpose of this project is to create such a system from which just after the manufacturing of plugs the faulty products get out of the queue and no one can get harmed by that defective product. 

Project Objectives

The objective of this project is to sort out the defective plugs in the manufacturing plant without any human intervention. The proposed project utilizes artificial intelligence and computer vision to do this task.   

Project Implementation Method

The project is designed in a way such that the manufactured plug is passed on a conveyer belt. The camera is used to detect the gap between electrodes of the spark plugs and pass the captured image to the system. The user interface shows the image captured by the camera and is forwarded further to check the standard gaps in the plug. If any spark plug lacks between the standard gap the system will provide an output of rejection which can be a signal from red led light and if approved then the signal will be green led. The other feature of using the visual studio application is it is user friendly and attractive for developers and user.

Benefits of the Project

A major benefit of the project is to reduce the human effort by sorting out the defective plugs from the manufacturing plant without any human interventions. 

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

The technical details of the project are as follows:

1) A conveyer belt and camera-based hardware is designed.

2) Manufactured plugs are passed on the belt.

3) Camera is used to collect the images to find any possible gaps in the plugs.

4) A python based application is designed to notify of the defected pieces.
