Gone are the days when people use to only rely on their savings for future security. In today's world, savings may not be adequate to ensure financial safety. Idle money kept in your savings bank account or locker may also not serve the purpose. That is because of two reasons – one, the idle cash in your bank account is an opportunity loss as it is not capable of earning more money, and second, it does not have the potential to beat inflation.

Investing allocates money in different asset classes with the intention of capital appreciation and earning better returns in the long run.

The Pakistan stock exchange is a platform where investors can buy and sell shares/stocks of working companies in Pakistan. Buying and selling into the PSX is not an easy task, it requires a lot of knowledge and market analysis to make business. Stakeholders are bound to monitor the market for a whole day to make buy and sell decisions of their stocks.

Analyzing the stock price performance during trading hours is a cumbersome task for traders or investors. Moreover, buying and selling the stock at a profitable rate is very essential for traders.

To solve these issues, we intend to build a “PSX Investor Assistant”. In this project, we will design an online platform that can track the investment-related activities of individual investors as per their provided set of criteria. It will monitor the real times stock ratings and notify the investors when certain selected criteria are met. The system will also help investors to buy/sell assets if certain constraints are met as defined by the investor (this criterion can be determined by the technical analysis or fundamental analysis). However, the integration of such capabilities with PSX (Pakistan Stock Exchange) is the main goal of this project.

Project Objectives

The existing PSX platform does not involve such efficient capacities as defined above. It does not allow the public to manage their investments on their own but requires a broker to analyze the market and make decisions for you. The selection of a good broker is again a challenge that is a lot of waste of time and risks the investment of stakeholders. Only price alerts can be set on PSX no technical alerts can be created on PSX. No parallel ordering of stocks is present in PSX to make efficient decisions.

Moreover, day job individuals cannot trade efficiently because of the time. Hence, trading on your own without the knowledge of the market is too risky. Buying and selling of stocks require technical analysis which must be learned to make decisions. But with the help of our proposed system, these issues can be solved that can save a lot of time for investors.

Project Implementation Method

To develop this project, we will make use of the waterfall model, this model is composed of five phases, and the transition to the next phase only occurs if the already running phase is completed. We chose this model because of the fixed timeline and it uses a clear structure that results in easily determinable milestones.
Along with this, we use MERN Stack development to build this application. MERN includes MongoDB, Expressjs, Reactjs, and Nodejs. Front-end development of the application is created using Reactjs and other tools including bootstrap, framer, Figma, and more. While, backend development of the application is done via Flask python framework, Nodejs, and Expressjs. MongoDB is a widely used NoSQL database that requires minimal effort to push data and retrieve it within a minimum time frame without worrying about the data structure.

The goal of the project is to make an interactive dynamic web application. The web application will assist the investor in buying and selling stock shares. This platform will provide a continuous watch of the interested shares of the investor. The investor will be notified with buying and selling suggestions of the shares with the help of selected technical indicators. Below given are some of the advantages of the product.
