Project Summary

It is very difficultto identify plants without help of any relevant person who have sufficient knowledge of plants. Growing plants is also a hard task. Continuous guidance is required regarding season, region, watering, sunshine, temperature and pesticides.

Artificial Intelligence has resolved this problem. We are developing a mobile app that can identify plants through images using Artificial Intelligence. App will identify plants and provide sufficient information regarding plants i.e. plant name, season, region, and other necessary information to help people to grow that plant.

Project Objectives

1- A mobile App that can take image and generates a response.

2- Machine Learning Model with accuracy 90%+.

3- Development of backend for app.

4- Hosting of backend on any server.

5- App is functioning properly (response time).

Project Implementation Method

We are using Artificial Intelligence (AI) to Identify Plants.

Since Pakistan's plant dataset is not  available so we need to construct dataset for our app.

We will prepare dataset (20 different flower plants, 200 images for each plant)

We will build AI machine learning model and train it on dataset (accuracy 90%+), Preferably CNN model.

Creating content provided for plants information.

App Development. (Flutter framework with Dart programing)

Backend Development for App (Flask framework with Python)

Model deployment on backend.

Server hosting on Microsoft Azure. 

Benefits of the Project

Horticulture seems to be an emerging trend in upcoming years as they are providing solutions to many of the problems that the world is facing from the past few years. It can be regard as solution to a world’s growing need of food production or it can give people the mental peace or satisfaction in the time of pandemic, it can also play an effective role in the well-being of special children in addition with helping these children creating a better understanding and relation with others.

Unfortunately, with this emerging trend or solution, people lack the knowledge they required the art to development of their own gardens, their sustainability and most importantly the art of using high value cultivating methods for food or plant production. It has been also seen that people are even unable to do the basic identification of plants which is one of the most important aspect to be known in the field of agronomy.
