PROJECT SUMMARY ? This project is proposed to design and build a power electronic lab trainer for the purpose to perform different lab experiments for the students. ? We are facing the following problems in this project. I. When we go to the market and ask for fibre glass it is very costly. II. When we try to contact some industry /manufacture to help in preparation of PCB or circuit they do not give the solution they ask us to order (for purchase) them about our trainer. ? Below is the list of different lab experiment which can be performed thorough these trainers I. Comparison of switching characteristics of general purpose and high frequency diodes. II. Steady state and switching characteristics of SCR. III. Switching characteristics of Power BJT. IIII. Switching characteristics of Power MOSFET. V. Switching characteristics of Power IGBT. VI. Design Buck converter and evaluate its performance. VII. Design Boost converter and evaluate its performance. VIII.Design Buck-Boost converter and evaluate its performance. IX. Design Cuk converter and evaluate its performance. X. Design Half-Bridge inverter and evaluate its performance. XI. Design Full-Bridge inverter and evaluate its performance. XII. Design Push-Pull inverter and evaluate its performance.

Project Objectives

OBJECTIVES The objectives of this project are to: 1. Provide facilities to perform lab experiment to the students. 2. Student will have easy excess to perform lab through these trainers. 3. Reduce the cost of university expenses. Till now we have understood the idea of power engineering and electron devices now we’ll discuss about our aims for that all which we are writing. We thought that why should not an under graduate student should be trained with various power semiconductor devices and should be familiar with some practical approaches of power semiconductors devices and their properties. After all we decided to design a basic power electronics training module. However in market there are several type of educational purpose power electronics trainers are available but we thought to design a such type of cheap in cost but more reliable than other all and easy to use, long life. The real aim of this training module is to train under graduate and post graduate students for industries.

Project Implementation Method

which is implementing the rectangular plastic construction bases with a grid of holes spaced to fit the leads components. The main limitation of using breadboards is the temporary connections of the circuit, due to this, the component can be easily loose and sometimes the circuit is not properly connected. The circuits construction also a bit messy due to jumper wire that cross each other's. The common digital electronics trainer is very expensive to obtain and normally available in limited numbers in electronic laboratories. Thus, students and lecturers can only use the trainers during the laboratory session. Moreover, due to limited numbers of unit, students need to share the trainers and this reduces the contact times of each student to use the trainer. Software: 1. Proteus. 2. Benefits of the Project

The basic purpose of this trainer is design and implementation of power electronics circuits for getting the correct results from the electronics circuits. Before this trainer, all students perform the experiment on the bread board and which did not give the 100 percent correct reading therefore we make the power electronics trainer to get 100 percent correct readings and waves. Digital electronics trainer is a device functions as a main platform for construction and testing of electronic circuits in most of electronic laboratories. Electronic trainer board has become increasingly popular in a wide range of applications in teaching and learning method. The electronic trainer boards use a breadboard as their main part for circuit connection and it also include some features such as LEDs and seven segments for display output. Commonly this electronics trainer is using prototype circuit, which is implementing the rectangular plastic construction bases with a grid of holes spaced to fit the leads components.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

This training module is only for academic use. Students will be the trainee only. All type of experiments is of academic level. Extension for further experiments is given where students and teachers may increase the quantity of experiments using bread board and built in multimeter. We searched a variety of material in power electronics such as Traics, Diacs, Silicon Controlled Rectifiers (SCRs), Power Diodes, Bipolar Junction Transistors (BJTs) and many others. We almost explored complete power electronics material and reviewed industrial usage of power electronics from different aspects. Later on, we took some specific material with required specifications to design this training kit. In which we included Unipolar Junction Transistor, Full wave Bridge Rectifier, Half Wave Rectifier, Silicon Controlled Rectifier, cuk converter, buk converter and boost converter.
