In this project, a Portable Oxygen Canisters Filling Machine will be designed and developed on one working table, integrating gas filling & crimping mechanisms. It is suitable for laboratory use, pilot entrance production, small-scale production of Pharmaceutics, food, personal care, household care, etc. This machine will work on pneumatic and expected to be user-friendly. Gas Filling technology is used worldwide in many large scale industries as well as small home based startups. The oxygen gas filling technology is commonly used by Pharmaceutical, food and household care companies in developed countries. However, in Pakistan this technology yet to be implemented. According our knowledge, filling oxygen in a can will be attempted for the first time in Pakistan.
Project ObjectivesThe main aim of the project is to provide portable small oxygen cylinder to the customers. The air in Earth's atmosphere is made up of approximately 78 percent nitrogen and 21 percent oxygen. Air also has small amounts of lots of other gases, too, such as carbon dioxide, neon, and hydrogen. Our motive is to store 80 – 85 % concentrated oxygen in an aerosol container that a person can carry with and use whenever they need it. Researchers claim that high concentrated oxygen can increase your energy, help improve focus and concentration, relieve stress, ease muscle pain, improve stamina, improve sleep and help you recover from jet lag and hangovers. This machine can also be used for capping and filling other aerosol products.
Project Implementation MethodAerosol gas filling is a process that is used to store a desire gas in a container which a person can use according to his needs. Our motive is to store concentrated oxygen as high as possible between a quantity of 500 - 1000 ml according to the container size. It will be a mini portable oxygen cylinder that will work in the form of dozes to boost up the oxygen concentration in your body to feel healthy and look fresh. This product can also store other gases and can also be used for making pharmaceutical products. Since these types of machines are not manufactured in Pakistan, most of the companies that do filling process for body sprays and other products etc import these filling machines from other countries to do their work. So the design and most of the parts of this machine will have to be manufactured by our own. The structure of this machine will be based on mild steel and to control this machine we will use PLC and HMI.
PROGRAMMABLE LOGIC CONTROLLER (PLC):
A Programmable Logic Controller, or PLC, is a ruggedized computer used for industrial automation. These controllers can automate a specific process, machine function, or even an entire production line.
The PLC receives information from connected sensors or input devices, processes the data, and triggers outputs based on pre-programmed parameters.
Depending on the inputs and outputs, a PLC can monitor and record run-time data such as machine productivity or operating temperature, automatically start and stop processes, generate alarms if a machine malfunctions, and more. Programmable Logic Controllers are a flexible and robust control solution, adaptable to almost any application.
HUMAN MACHINE INTERFACE (HMI):
Most modern control systems employ a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller) as a means to control motors, pumps, valves and various other equipments used in a process. Computer based HMI (Human Machine Interface) products provide the means by which process personnel interact with the PLC control system.
We use HMIs in industry to control and monitor machines. A very common HMI that you all encounter on a regular basis would be an ATM machine. The screen and pushbuttons allow you to operate the machine to dispense a certain amount of money, or to deposit money.
Benefits of the ProjectBy using aerosol gas filling machine we can make oxygen cans which are widely used in areas where there is severe environmental pollution, also used by hikers in hilly areas and people who face difficulty in breathing, athletes use oxygen cans after workout. This product can be used in daily life routine as concentrated oxygen is very efficient for human health. It relieves stress, improves stamina and also helps in improving focus and concentration. This machine can also be used for aerosol filling and crimping of other gases.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable
The output we hope to achieve is an Aerosol gas filling machine that will crimp and fill gases in an aerosol container. The gas we are working on is concentrated oxygen that will be provided in an aerosol container with a quantity between 500 – 1000 ml. Our machine will be functioned by PLC and we can control the amount of pressure by means of HMI. The phenoma of this machine is divided into two main parts
1. Crimping Arm
Crimping arm will crimp the bottles by pressing the bottles by means of pneumatic. The amount of pressure that will be used to crimp the bottles will be ajdusted by pressure regulator
2. Filling Arm
Filling Arm consists of two parts one crimping arm but its function is not to press the bottles. It will be used for pushing down the arm by means of pneumatic cylinder and after that the pressure controlling part in that part the pressure of oxygen is being controlled by means of pressure transducer in a small filling cylinder, when arm will be move downward by means of poneumatic, there will be a wall at the end of a pipe connected with the filling cylinder, which will connect with the bottles nossel and will fill oxygen in aerosol containers. The amount of ocygen we want to insert will be controlled by the amoubnt of pressure and velocity of the gas and is pre calculated. The calculations of fillings are occured by following the basic rules of the safety precautions for filling aerosol containers.
