Unlike a charger, portable jump starters (aka battery boosters, emergency boosters, battery jumpers, and jump boxes) can be used anywhere. They don't need to be plugged into an outlet. They also don't recharge your battery, but rather provide the necessary amperage to crank the engine and start the vehicle.

Project Objectives

A portable jump starter can be the quickest way to get the car running again. The latest lithium-ion battery models are small enough to easily carry in your car and much lighter than traditional lead-acid battery jumpers.
