Plc based automatic bottle picking and washing assembly for industrial purpose
Project Area of Specialization Mechatronics EngineeringProject Summary| Learning programmable logic controller and knowing the methods of programming PLCs for all modern industries is a necessity. Graduates of engineering universities and technical institutions are trained in laboratories using different trainers. These trainers do not provide a real-time industrial working experience to the students. Similarly, these trainers are not designed to provide visualization of the applied logics in real-time, rather they use indicators for indication of multiple processes. There is a need for training systems that can provides hands on experience from programming and logical interpretation of proposed solutions along with visualization of field sensors, actuators and the complete process itself. Mainly Balochistan is depending on ground water for drinking purposes. The water drawn is not healthy with issues related to order and impurities, where proper filtration is done alongside the addition of all health impurities as per international standards for drinking. The water plants are not affordable by all, for the same water purification plants are stablished. These provide filtered water in packed bottles. The problem arises when these plants lack automatic filling assembly lines, because of which maintaining hygiene become challenging with the involvement of labor hand filling stations. |
The purpose of this project is to provide industrial environment in laboratories to the upcoming students of the university and targeting the more than 40 plants locally supplying filtered mineral water. The prototype will be placed in the laboratory for the learning of the students and meanwhile the setup will be available for the display of industries willing to buy the technology. The product will enable the participants to go for a startup and cover the local industry including water filling plants and other beverages. This will be very beneficial both for industrial production and maintain hygiene.

Project Objectives- Understand the standards of purication and contrast the standard techniques used in modern industries.
- To design, program and implement an automatic bottle washing and picking mechanism that can be implemented real time.
- To design the assembly so that it is interfaceable with all available PLC models in order to provide a learning platform for students in their laboratory
First a small-scale version of the complete bottle filling assembly line will be proposed. The same will be modeled a 3D modeling software. The 3D model will be fabricated and interfaced with a PLC module. The PLC will be programmed using Ladder logic and all field sensors and actuators will be attached interfaced with it. The prototype will be including a bottle picking and flipping assembly that will wash the bottle both form inside and outside. The bottle will be reflipped back again and sent to the filling assembly, where it will be filled and then moved to the capping area. The bottle will finally be caped and labelled for delivery.
Benefits of the Project• A fully automatic system.
• It is less expensive than the machines used in high level industry.
• It required less amount of time and can produced more washed bottle per hour.
• It can be used by the control automation and robotic lab in our university, which can help the student to learn PLC by performing on the prototype which we are making.
• It can also be used by the all beverages industry in our city Quetta.
• It can produce more hygienic bottle which will be healthier for human being.
• It can provide international standard to our local industry.
- A realtime working interfaceable module with all models of PLC.
- The assembly will pick and wash the plastic bottles used for filtered mineral water.
- All sensors, solenoids, pumps, conveyors and gates will be fully automatic.
