Physical Exercise Humanoid Robot
Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject Summary PROJECT SUMMARY: 1) Background:Humanoid Robotics is an attempt to design a tool that works with human and is specifically not an attempt to recreate human being. Researchers study the human body structure and behaviour (biomechanics) to build humanoid robots. Simulation of human body gives a better idea about Humanoids. Humanoids are expected to co-exist and work together with humans in environments which are meant for human beings. Such Robots have to interact with humans, who live a social life.

The motivation for developing this robot is to encourage unfit people especially children to engage in some physical exercises and to reduce the harmful effects of mobile phones on them as they would spend more time in interacting with out robot.
3) Overview of the project:In order for service robots to have the capability required to work with humans in a shared space, certain conditions must be met. Perhaps most importantly, the human must trust that the robot will perform the task appropriately and without harm. To be genuinely useful the robot must be powerful enough to perform the task.
Our robot will be designed to serve humans by making them perform some basic exercise which will effect their health in a very positive way. The robot will receive some commands from the user and then work accordingly to it. For the purpose of robot's construction different hardware coomponents will be used which include servo motors which in robot will help in the movement. It will have the body structure similar to as humans have.

The set objectives are as follows:
- To study the human body structure and behaviour (biomechanics) to build our robot.
- To propose a robot that can balance its body weight while performing exercise.
- To design and implement the proposed project.
While designing a humanoid robot we need to have some considerations which are as follows:
- Height of Humanoid Robot.
- Weight of the upper and lower body.
- Angle of body in frontal plane.
- Angle of body in lateral plane.
- Position of feet with respect to body.
- Position of feet with respect to floor.
- Speed of robot movement.
The language/library/tools that we wish or predict to use is:
- Python.
- As far as we have researched about the project and its domain, we’ll be using a thirdparty library called Vitruvius which provides useful functionality for analysis of body pose, joints, etc.
.Our aim, is to develop a social assistive robot that will coach older adults or children’s in an appropriate set of exercises, these humanoid robot move from one place to another place to engage the patients or children and make the motivation to take more exercise or spend more time which is beneficial to our physical health and reduce death which is lack of physical activity. Our robot will receive a command to perform PT exercise and it will act according to it. It’ll first detect that there should be no obstacle or hurdle which can come in the way of the exercise and then perform exercise.
3) Working methodolgy / model:
Our project has many benefits in different situations some of which are as follows:
- The Bumble Bee PT robot will benefit unfit and unhealthy people who don’t leave their comfort zones as our robot will be attractive and interactive.
- Unlike some robots, humanoid robots are highly mobile. The benefit of our Bumble Bee PT robot is that it can move in different directions and is portable which means you don’t have to worry about the fact that you can not take this robot to places.
- Because of the fact that people especially kids are most attracted towards such gadgets and robots, the harmful effects of mobiles will be reduced.
- Also, the development of such robots will increase the chances of development of more complex and advanced robots which will bring pride to our institute and country.
At the completion of this project the final output will be as follows:
- A robot which would be capable of performing PT exercise.
- The robot will also move from one place to another.
- It will maintain body balance while performing exercise.
- The interaction will be attractive and easy between for the user.
- A better understanding and insight regarding humanoid robots.
2) Technical Details:
The techincal details of the project will include timeline within which we wish to finish our project with the specified resources as mentioned. In order to ensure that the set of objectives is achieved within the stipulated timeframe, it is necessary to define the scope of the research, which are:
- The functionalities of our PT robot are kept moderate because extension in the functionalities is very costly.
- The study of biomechanics cannot be done completely due to less resources and shortage of time.
- The robot will perform PT exercise only for this project as the inclusion of any other activity will take much time and money.
