Project Summary

In Electrical labs, various experiments are performed on different loads, when different ranges of voltages are applied on different loads students are only capable to find phase angle but could not able to see the phasor diagram cause this type of trainer are not available in our university. This device is made to observe the phasor Diagram and the effect of inductance and capacitance of power system. It also tells Power factor (PF) is leading or lagging and it will make the learning process easier for students as well as for lab’s instructor. In this project, different types of loads resistor R, inductor L and capacitor C are used in different combination. PZEM-004T measure voltage and current and send reading to the microcontroller. Microcontroller calculates angle of voltage and current and displays the phasor diagram, angle and magnitude of current and voltage and power factor (PF) on LCD.

Project Objectives

The key purpose of this project is to design a Phasor Diagram display trainer for single Phase Power System, which will display the Phasor Diagram and as well as Complex Power. This type of trainers are not available in our university and all other universities of Pakistan. Phasor diagram and complex power are important tools for understanding power system.   

Project Implementation Method

For this project use PZEM-004T  for the Volatge and current magnitude and power factor .From power factor caculate the phase between voltage and current.Using the microcontroller display these values and  from these values phasor diagram display on lcd. 

Benefits of the Project

Following are the application of specific project:

  • Used in labs of Electrical Engineering.
  • Used for teaching Method in Class.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

First step is to interface Pzem-004t with microcontrooler so that we get Power factor ,Voltage and current.Through Microcontroller and with the help of these valuse make phasor diagram and display these values on lcd.
