The project is a Passive configurable knee joint which is specifically designed to be in the fiscal scope of a common Pakistani. It is a bonafide mechanical project which is capable of bringing transfemoral amputees back to their lives thus, making them contribute to society and nation. Almost all of the health care institutions around Pakistan import knees and integrate them with sockets and shanks to be used by amputees which is quite costly so, this solution is a fresh move exclusivity oriented to not only meet the technichalities of a state-of-the-art high-end knee but also is within a financial range affordable. 

Project Objectives

There are three main objectives:

1. To make sure that the overall product (Knee joint) remains within a affordale fiscal rage.

2. To esure, knee provides stability to the amputee. 

3. To ensure , Knee provides a relatively normative gait. 

4. To ensure K2 activity level is achieved. 

Project Implementation Method

Project design is done using solid works. 

Structural analysis is performed using Ansys workbench and solid works. 

CAM performed using mastercam x5.

Fabrication using cnc machining. 

Benefits of the Project

Thousands of amputees all around Pakistan will have the opportunity to get these affordable prosthetics which would aid them and give them the opportunity of bringing themselves back to their lives by contributing to their families and society. 

We have a reasonable market available in the country so, this project is very much capable of becoming a start up and a flourishing business in the days to come. 

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

It would be 4-bar aluminum linkage assembled to form a polycentric joint integrated with pnuematic unit with the purpose to provide normative gait. The four-bar linkage is designed to have extra stability by keeping the instantanous center behind the load line at heel touch. A robust pnuematic unit would aid the amputee to use minimal hip masculature strength and initiate the swing phase. 

The overall objective is to achieve stability and normative gait.
