Project Summary

In power system Energy demand in the world is increasing day by day as a result power losses are also increasing simultaneously. 
So it is the time to minimize these losses and stabilize the power of the system. Optimal capacitor placement in Micro grid station with the help of renewable energy source will help to improve the power supply system for the user and also for the distributor.

Several researchers worked on capacitor placement using different power tools like (Matlab.. Python and etap)..

In this project ETAP software is utilized to optimally locate the capacitor and its sizing in the distribution system. 

This project presents the optimal setting and sizing of capacitor bank problem solution for IEEE 39 bus system, 69 bus system, and 100+ bus system with an integrated micro grid by using genetic algorithm.

Project Objectives

As we know the growing demand for renewable energy resources, improved power factor,system stability, reliability and security is the main target of any power company.

So the objective of this project is to compensate the VAR requirements(by using capacitor banks in an optimal way).
We can also reduce the cost, increase the voltage profile enhancement, power factor improvement and minimizes the power losses at distribution end.

Project Implementation Method

So to enhance the voltage profile ,improve the power factor, minimize the cost function and reduce the power losses in all three modeled systems Optimal sizing and setting of capacitor bank with an integrated micro grid is done by using Genetic algorithm technique/method in ETAP software.

Genetic algorithm method is a search algorithm established on the mechanism of natural selection. Fundamentally GA creates a population that develops via time using reproduction and mutation method. This is an evolutionary process which is carried out on a set of candidtate solution by the following principle develop by Darwin .The three most essential parts of GA are: 

1) definition of objective function
2) definition and implementation of GA representation
3) definition and representation of GA operators.

In this project the illustration designated for this application is a chromosome separated in two portions.

1) specify location of the capacitors.

2) specify the size of the capacitors used.
So we use this method in the project because this mechanism depends upon the population of possible solutions in its iteration.
 One more discrepancy from the other methods is that it does not work on deterministic approach its works on stochastic approach.

Benefits of the Project

We can modernize our power system with the help of this project. Or we can also stabilize the distribution network by calculating the daily load increasing requirement.

 This means that we can significantly reduce the power losses of the distribution network or increase the net profit of the system.  By using renewable resources as a micro grid.

  The advancement of the system in Pakistan may have played a significant role.

 By using genetic algorithm in this project we can also reduce the cost of capacitor banks.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

This project will prove to be very useful for the power sector.
 This is because of the fact that we can make our distribution system efficient enough to reduce the huge losses.

 With the increasing load of day by day, we can make our distribution system economical through this project. Or we can manage the system better.

In previous papers, work is done on distribution and utilization with non intigrated renewable sources. Now we are working on IEEE 100+ buses with integrated micro renewable energy sources by using G.A technique.

 The current loading condition or distribution system or the implementation of the project has become very important in the power industry.
