The current era is of technology and computers, every manual system processing at large organizations, universities is replaced by smart or online portals. Every organization or universities wants an online solution for daily routine works. The solutions for most of the issues have been tackled and solved, but there are some issues that need to be solved specially in the universities. In most universities or organizations, announcing, registration, evaluating, processing, awarding of scholarships is manual system. Almost every students is having financial crises and every person wants to admire a good education. Most of the students leave/drop their study because of financial issues, and they even don’t know about the scholarships or how to apply for applying for scholarship properly. Even though donor/ vendor of scholarships have issues of donating scholarships to organizations or universities.
In every universities, the traditions system of providing scholarships to student is manual system, when universities members has to announce any scholarship then they have to arrange sessions in order to aware the full specification and criteria of scholarship to student, generating emails regarding the scholarships to students. Once Announcing processing done manually, then students have to fill the forms manually and attaching the numerous of documents by printing the copying of required documents by scholarship’s criteria, and then students have to submit that scholarships form and document to financial department. Financial Department has to take care of noting, registration, managing, maintaining, and checking each number of student who have filled the form in the REGISTER FILE manually. Suppose 1000 of students has to fill the scholarships form, then it will create problems for universities to maintain, manage, check, and taking care of records of each students of their documents and scholarship form. That whole process of scholarship causes the problems of wastage of time, register file, papers, and chances of losing data of students. The traditional system of awarding scholarship also create a problem of redundancy of data, such as once those students who have not awarded with scholarship, in next phase of scholarship, those students has to fill the forms in the same traditional way manually by providing same data again. So this is very much time taking processing and human efforts and energy is required more to tackle, handle and manage this traditional system.
So the solution of all that problems can be tackled, handled, and solved by providing online system so that it can remove all kinds of human effort and energy, hurdles that is required in traditional system. The online scholarship portal is web based portal that will solve all the issue that are faced currently for the management of scholarship forms. It provides with the problem of redundant data.
Currently, the Scholarships are maintained and processed manually, in the form of registers, files, etc. to store the scholarship details of the students. When new scholarships are to be announced, it involves heavy paper work, and to give information about the scholarship details, different session are arranged. There are a lot of drawbacks in maintaining the manual system and it also leads to data redundancy. The problems, which are found out by analyzing the existing system such as Time delay, Redundancy, Accuracy, Information Retrieval as retrieving particular data from register file, Storage Problem as noting in register file.
So The Online Scholarship System (OSP) which is web-based system that has the main objective to solve and reduce in order to rectify the maximum problems that are arising in the current system/traditional manual system.
After attaining these all objectives, System will provide the easiness to process, manage, maintain, records of scholarship in platform, and this system will remove all problems of traditional system that currently facing.
In this phase all the requirements gathered earlier, will be studied and system design will be created and documented in the Software Design Specification (SRS). Following steps will be done in this phase.
Database and Entity Relationship Design:
In this phase, all the database entries and the relationship between the entities will be discovered. Database will be designed according to the needs and requirements.
System Modeling:
After collecting requirements and designing database, next phase will be the designing class diagram. A sequence diagram will be development to describe how different objects will interact with each other in system.
Architecture:
In order to describe the major components in system and their interaction, a system architecture will be designed.
Testing cases:
Test case will be development in order to verify complete functionalities of system. These test cases will be developed for unit testing, integration and system testing.
In the implementation phase, developers understand the specifications and code. In our case, system will be developed in small units which will be integrated later.
Verification/Testing: Testing and verification of each unit test will be done here. All the test cases and the result will be documented. Following types of tests will be carried out:
Unit Testing: As our system will be developed in units, so after development of each module it will be tested for its functionality before to integrate it into original system.
Integration Testing: After the module development and testing, module will be integrated to system. For this purpose, we will perform integration testing to test the faults or errors between different unit tests.
System Testing: After the complete integration testing, the system testing will be performed on complete system.
Acceptance Testing: After the system testing, software will be tested by the clients. For our case, we will use some students from our class or university
Deployment
In this phase, the system be delivered to the working environment and released to the market. Deployment activity involves installing system and testing in working environment.
