Project Summary

Non-Invasive Glucometer project is about measuring glucose level in blood without pricking or taking out blood so that the diabetic patient can easily and regularly measure their blood glucose/sugar level without any pain or discomfort. Recently only Invasive techniques are available in Pakistan Market to measure blood sugar level. 

Near infrared spectroscopy will be used to measure blood glucose as according to recent studies it is expected that glucose has specific absorption and reflection behaviour towards specific wavelengths in near infrared region

Project Objectives

The objective of the project is to measure glucose in a non-invasive way and also get accuracy and stability in the readings.

Project Implementation Method

Near infrared spectroscopy will be used to measure glucose level in blood , specific wavelengths from the near infrared region will be selected that are transmitted through the finger and recieved at the other end or same side of the finger through photodiode reciever. Then variations in the recieved signal is studied and analyzed.

Benefits of the Project

A new device in Pakistan's market that can measure glucose non-invasively as recently all the devices require blood to check sugar level in blood.

beneficial to people who suffer from trypanophobia(needle phobia)

Diabetic can easily and regularly check their blood glucose level without any pain or discomfort.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

A small handheld device that can display continuous blood glucose reading.

Photodiode reciever will detect the signals from 4 IR leds from near infrared region. The signals will be amplified and noise will be removed if any. Then the signals will be analyzed and calculated to display glucose value on LCD.
