Project Summary

This is a research project which is dealing with the non-conventional control of an already designed exoskeleton for the recovery of post stroke patient.

The control will be based on the visual feedback from the patient who is meant to move his hand for grasping the object he would like,minimizing patient’s efforts to move and handle the exoskeleton for grasping functions.

We are aiming to implement such a control system for the exoskeleton which will take the aid of patient’s vision towards the object and will automatically move the exo arm towards it, for the performance of the grasping function.

Project Objectives

To reduce the physical effort of the patient and the therapist.

? To provide hometherapy treatment through the machine.

? To make the patient self-sufficient for the use of machine by limiting the need of physiotherapist.

? To automate grasping function for exoarm

Project Implementation Method

A proposed idea for this is to install a camera in the exohand’s palm and for the perfect visual processing a camera is to be installed on patients glasses as well to aid exoarm to move in the direction of patient’s vision for the automatic grasping function.

Benefits of the Project

Physically and phychologically friendly for the stroke patient by providing him with efficieny in his exoarm movements.

•    Raspberry pi 3 and OpenCV for visual processing.
