Project Summary

Word prediction is an important function of natural language processing (NLP) and probability theory. The purpose is to predict the correct word in the given context. Word prediction can be used in many applications. For example, the Present Content Section Framework, Word Consumption Utilities, and Composing. There are many types of predictions available in the IT industry. Popular systems are T9 (), eZiText (), and iTAP (), and these systems are adopted by major Smartphone companies.

In Word Prediction, after typing a word, the model gives the user a suggested word list that the user wants to type and think about the next word. Because word prediction has always been an important task for users to minimize their keystrokes while typing and provide suggestions for using different words according to the context. A common way to handle and deal with this problem is to develop and implement a stochastic approach based on the Hidden Markov Model (HMM) and Unigram Model (UM). Since no previous work has been done for the Balochi language, this will be an initial step to develop such a model for the concerned language.

Project Objectives

 Next word perdition is used to increase our writing speed and it is used to confirm the choice of word which is typed. It helps us for the word spelling correction to develop our writing skill to be more powerful to clear the grammatical mistake of every text which is to be used to recall the correct spelling.

Next word prediction is used in Schools, Colleges, Universities and some specific places to speed the vocabulary power to type the words past.

The impact of this project, if is successful then the feature of next word prediction can be used in mobile phone for predicting the next word in Balochi.

If we think about next word prediction a question arises that how does the keyboard on your phone know what you would like to type next?

We will use the methods of natural language processing, language modeling, and deep learning. We will start by analyzing the data followed by the pre-processing of the data, then tokenize this data and finally build the deep learning model by using LSTM’s. Then we use a neural language model to use Long Short-Term Memory, that manage the memory, making them better suited for text prediction than traditional neural networks.

Benefits of the Project

The main feature of our project will be a dataset relating language modeling for next word prediction. This will be a first-time contribution to Balochi Language in the world of Computer Science. The second feature is, a model that will be developed to be trained on Balochi Language modeling corpus or dataset. Further this dataset will be available in open source after the completion of our project which can be utilized by other from this field.

This project may not be used as a stand-alone software but it will be a basic step in NLP for Balochi, that can be further utilized to do more complex NLP tasks for Balochi.
