Project Summary

Augmented Reality (AR) is an example of the revolution that occurs in technology that continuously expands around the world now. AR is a new kind of interactive technology that gives us a new way to interact in a direct view of an existing environment. It allows us to create or put 3D object directly onto physical things or fused together in real-time. In addition to that, other features that AR offers to users are sound, videos and graphics too. Nowadays, there are various applicationsthat integrated with augmented reality technology.

E-Library is a mobile application that contains a 3D model of the main library that is located at FET(Faculty of Engineering and Technology) University of Sindh, Jamshoro campus. This mobile application is applied with augmented reality technology which allows users to use it more interactively when they want to explore the 3D model of the library in the real world space. E-library also comes with come functionality that eases the user to know the information about the library itself such as the user can know which section of the bookshelf that store the specifics of the book genre and which direction to go to the facility that provided in the library.

Project Objectives

There are a few purposes in developing the E-Library with augmented reality which is : -

 · To design the mobile application of E-Library that contains with augmented reality technology and also a 3D model of the library based on the UniSZA main library

· To develop E-Library by using Unity 3D as the main software and also the side software which is Maya 3D, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator and Sketchup

· To test the mobile application that will be created can be used smoothly by the user on the Android platform and provide benefits to the user.

Project Implementation Method

This project involves the combination of the element that will use  the 3D model of the building, button, sound and others, all of that will be applied in the application itself. The related software will be used in order to make the  elements needed in the application is workable such as, the 3D building of the library that is made by using the software called SketchUp. Furthermore, this project use C# as the programming language for the coding purpose. It will produce the high quality of the 3D model that will be used on the application.

Benefits of the Project

The main benefit E-Library with Augmented Reality developed based on ADDIE method mainly is to give the user to experience the new way to explore the library and also to provide the user with the information of the library in this application. Meanwhile, the other benefit is to give the user exposure and education about AR technology. Furthermore, it is very convenient to use because the user only just needs to be download on the Google Play Store and can use them without any internet connection.

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

In Augmented Reality technique, there are some techniques can be used such as Marker Based, Markerless, Superimposition Based and Projection Based. In this ELibrary project, Marker Based technique is implemented in the application.
