Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryWe aim to develop a smart system using Internet of Things to monitor and automate electrical appliances. Thus the Project is implemented using both Hardware and Software.
(a) Hardware:
The Hardware part consists of following components Microcontroller, Relay, Sensors in such a way so that they can be monitored and automate through a mobile application.
(b) Software:
The software part comprises of a mobile application which will be used for monitoring and automation of electrical appliances.
Project ObjectivesFollowing are the main objectives of our project:
- Save energy.
- Saving energy leads to saving money.
- To keep a track of running electrical appliances.
- To monitor in run time how much load a particular device is consuming.
- Automation of electrical appliances.
We will use Internet of Things to implement our Project.
For the hardware part we are using relay which helps to automate electrical appliances. The Curent and Voltage Sensors are attached to our electrical appliance. In this way we will be able to monitor and automate the appliance attached. All these components are linked to the micrcontroller.
On the other hand we are developing a mobile application through which we will carry out these tasks in run time.
Benefits of the ProjectThis Project has following benefits:
1. Prevent electrcity crisis by keeping us aware of electricity consumption and avoiding over use.
2. Helps keep our bill low by keeping us informed about its usage and cost.
3. Reduces manual task of switching appliances and letting us automate them through mobile application.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableA low form portable extension will be created which would comprise of all the hardware necessary for automation and monitoring. It will be a generic system thus allowing us to connect any electrical appliance of our own choice.
A mobile application will be developed to carry out the tasks in run time.
