Project ObjectivesOur main objective is to firstly create a simple point-to-point molecular communcation link , that can encode, transmit and decode messages at an acceptable level of accuracy. We will utilise concentration shift keying to modulate our signal over air. We wil then expnd this project, by adding point-to-multi-point, as well as other possible future additions like MIMO, routing, etc.
Project Implementation MethodTo create both transmitter and reciever we wil utilise arduino UNO microcontrolers.To create the transmitter, the arduino wil control an electric spray that will spray the molecules, in this case alcohol molecules, to the reciever, in a specific manner. The reciever, which wil be an alcohol sensor connected to an arduino which will detect shifts in concentration levels, and then decode them into bits, which then decodes series of bits into characters.
Benefits of the ProjectSince molecular communication's main aim is to communicate where traditional radio waves cannot, the nano-level as well as closed off areas such as sewers, caves etc. Testing as such sclaes can be expensive and difficult, furthermore proper behaviour of molecular communication has not been modeled for accurate simulation .This project will allow researchers to utilise cheap and convenient means to experiment with molecular communication schemes, as well as show their feasibility.
Technical Details of Final DeliverableOur final deliverable will include a point-to-multi-point link that will transfer at a rate of 1/3 bits per second. As well as have a near 0% false positive and under 10% false negative rate.
