Project Area of Specialization Internet of ThingsProject SummaryThe efficient energy management of the distribution system has been improved day by day but the energy measurement, billing section and load side protection is still ignored which is the biggest cause of power theft cases and damage to home appliances due to over voltages. The existing method deals with purely manpowered operation for calibration and detection of power theft having no any load side protection which is not efficient way for dealing with such difficult conditions of power theft and consumer end security. This project is concerned with limiting such theft cases by making use of Arduino Uno r3 Microcontroller and GSM technology which controls and detects the location of power theft from main control room and ensures the load side safety. The method employed in the project is based on implementation of an effective energy measurement system that prevents the theft attempts and provides overvoltage protection to consumer appliances. The illegal use of electric power can be solved electronically via SMS alert which reduces the processing time and overvoltage protection can be made possible. By implementation of such a system large amount of electricity will be saved and it can be distributed to the greater number of consumers with high consumer end security.
Project ObjectivesThe objectives of this project are:
- To detect the seal break in energy meters.
- To detect internal theft (Bypassing energy Meter).
- To remotely control the energy meters using Arduino Uno, GSM module and relay.
- To protect house hold equipment from over and under voltages.

By implementation of theĀ purposed system following benefits will be achieved:
- Energy theft can be considerably reduced resulting in handsome amount of revenue earned.
- Consumers and its security can be ensured.
- Efficient energy management can be achieved.
