The project is totally built at administrative end and thus only the administrator is guaranteed the access. The purpose of the project is to build an application program to reduce the manual work for managing the Address, Member, Librarian, Issues. It tracks all the details about the Issues, Books,Student.
Provides the searching facilities based on various factors. Such as Address, Issues, Books, Student
The transactions are executed in off-line mode, hence on-line data for Address, Member capture and modification is not possible.
It tracks all the information of Member, Librarian, Books ect
Manage the information of Member
Shows the information and description of the Address, Issues
All the fields such as Address, Issues, Student are validated and does not take invalid values
It generates the report on Address, Member, Librarian.

Project Objectives

The main objectives of the project are:
To do research on Library Systems and to establish distinct features that can be applied in developing a Library Management System.
Activities: do research on manual and online Library System; get some ideas from books and journals for relevant articles.
Deliverables: research report.
To create a WBS for Library Management System.
Activities: identify main Tasks (Activities) for the project and produce Work Breakdown Structure.
Deliverables: Work Breakdown Structure (WBS)
To understand technologies to be used in designing Library Management System
Activities: briefly explanation of software(s) to be used, hardware(s), languages and server(s).
Deliverables: requirements Analysis.
To design and implement a database that will hold information for Library Management System.
Activities: Analyse information collected and draw up a requirements specification for Member registration, Item Management and setting security.
Deliverables: conceptual data model, relational schema, codes for database.

Project Implementation Method

This report focuses on the design and implementation of the library management system. It deals with the complete processes on building and implementing it. It focuses in the technical aspects of the system starting with identifying the necessary components and building the relevant relationship between or among them as needed for the smooth and efficient operation of the system.
The process starts with the entities involved in the system, with proceeding towards the ER Diagram in order to identify the meaningful relationship between the entities. Next is the table design which fulfils the normalization principle of relational database system and finally the physical tables are created with the necessary and relevant data in them.
The system can keep track of the members joining and leaving the library, borrowing and returning of the books. Checking the availability of the books using different attributes as parameters. Finally checking of the overdue books and fines payable is another feature of the system.
