Designing a Web-app for children with autism that will act as a learning and development tool. Children will be trained to develop language skills, recognize emotions and identify objects using visual tools. Technology will be incorporated into building an effective learning tool for autistic children. 

Project Objectives

To aid in the learning and development of children on the autism spectrum with the help of technology. There are not many teaching and training tools for autistic children in Pakistan. Autistic children do not receive proper communication and language development aids. It is essential for a child to be able to learn social skills and communication in order to properly integrate into society.

Project Implementation Method

Implemented through a software application specifically designed for autistic children taking into account their progress through each level. Each level is divided into multiple activities which help the child to build confidence and reach speech development milestones. The child, parent or caregiver are informed of the progress of the child at each level. By having therapists, parents, and educators use the application they get to see if it meets all the requirements and goals that help the child’s development and has the capability to build strong foundational concepts of communication.

Benefits of the Project

Autism is a complex and lifelong development disability that usually appears during early childhood. Symptoms may include speech delays or complete absence of speech, lack of interest in friendships or relationships, difficulty with social cues, fixation, repetitive behaviors, avoiding eye contact, and poor motor skills. Autism in children effects the child’s nervous system, and growth and development. They are unable to develop proper social or language skills or understand facial expressions and emotions.

Technology can be a tool for bridging the gap between communication and learning in children with autism. Children may benefit from devices used to help communicate using pictures or pre-recorded speech samples as well as software designed to teach and reinforce concepts from the classroom.
