JET TURBINE ENGINE TEST BENCH
Project Area of Specialization RoboticsProject SummaryThe project consist of a test bench that will house a single spool single shaft jet enine and design of its FADEC (full authority design and engine control) which is used to control the engine parameters by recieving multiple inputs and the effect of inputs on those parameters and then it will integrated with hardware .A GUI will be used which will allow us to choose which parameters to display.
Project ObjectivesThe primary objective is to design a soft jet turbine engine and its fadec for testing purpose and to display parameters on GUI.
Project Implementation Methodstarting it by engine modeling of single spool single shaft turbofan engine and then designing its fadec which will control the various parameters of engine by recieving multiple inputs and their respective outputs which will be controlled according to our design then results of our parameters will be verified using OEM data graphs and it will implemented on dsp kit using sensors and data will obtained using DAQ cards Desired inputs will be displayed and updated on a screen in an easily readable format according to the testers preference and requirement. Acquired data will be manipulated through programmable software in order to achieve usable information and numbers will be displayed to the user.
Benefits of the Project1.Simplifies the process by automating it and reducing the risk of human testers.
2.less number of parameters to be monitored by flight crews
3.Improved fuel efficiency
4.Vast use in military aviation
5.Industrial application
Technical Details of Final DeliverableSoft engine model (TRI 60) which is implemented on dsp kit along with its fadec for cold testing of a disposable jet engine .Sensors will be precise and have ranges that cover all possible scenarios to avoid misreading of data and reduce errors, as precision is key in sensitive equipment. We will, also, make sure that all sensors are Avionics Grade. The project is running under the industrial automation and robotics lab.
