Project Title

IOT Based Smart Solar Tree System for Maximum Utilization of Limited Space Area

Project Area of Specialization Mechanical EngineeringProject Summary

The Smart Solar Tree is a 300W power generating plant, that includes 6 Solar Panels mounted on 6 different branches. it's not at all, the tree rotates 360 degrees for searching the sunlight, when the sun switch detects the sunlight the rotation of the tree had to stop.

And most importantly we controlled all the functions of that tree with internet and the rotation of the tree too, by our smartphones.

Project Objectives

The main objective is to make such a source of energy that generate more energy in less area, for achieving this we had an idea to make a Solar Tree. but this is not an ordinary tree in this we add some technicalities, like 360 Degree rotation, and visual screening and all of the things are controlled by our smartphones. The control, and the movement of tree clockwise and anti-clockwise are all controlled by our smartphones.

The second objective is to challenge ourselves to make a comparison of the energy of 6 Solar panels mounted on a plane surface, and those same panels mounted on three.

And another idea is to make an energy source in that area where a physically wired connection from a power generation source is not possible.

Example:

In public parks, roadside areas,s, and highways where you cannot get the energy to get the phone, laptops and even EV charged. Solar trees are intended to bring visibility to solar technology and to enhance the landscape and architecture they complement, usually in a commercial or public context. An objective of many solar tree installations is to promote awareness, understanding, and adoption of renewable energy. They are not typically used as a primary source of energy for a property that role is accomplished by rooftop solar systems. Solar trees are complementary to rooftop solar systems, or other green building measures, symbolizing these larger investments and their environmental benefit.

Project Implementation Method

Implementation of Solar Tree is quite simple. The strong frame which has to be designed will be of Aluminum. The Main Stand will be around 6.5 ft. high on which branches will be bolted at a regular distance so that one solar panel does not get shadowed under the other one. All the plates are detachable. It will make it easier to carry them in the places where the whole tree cannot be carried at the same time. Panels will be programmed on an IOT base, they will set their faces towards the sun according to the incident rays. The plates will store energy in the battery and that will be given forward to the inverter. We do not have to set the panel directions manually every time. We would be able to set it up remotely. The good part is that instead of covering up the flat large surface, we can generate more energy by putting plates on the height area.

Benefits of the Project
  1. It is eco-friendly.
  2. Its Installation can enhance land utilization (i.e., maximum power can be generated from a small area).
  3. It can promote awareness, understanding, and adoption acknowledging about renewable energy.
  4. It is flexible to rotate and easy to handle.
  5. The solar tree also gives shadow beneath it.
  6. It improves aesthetics.
Technical Details of Final Deliverable

On the plane surface, 6 solar plates consume almost 8ft2. (area) and generates the energy of 285W by accepting all the errors.

And when we mount those same plates on the tree, it captures the 4*4 ft2 (area), and the results are the differences too.

So, in the final words, we achieve the as same energy on those same plates that capture the more area on the surface, and on the tree that same energy generates less space.
