The threat of depletion of conventional energy sources are increasing day by day ,rising prices of electricity and also the bionomic fear of burning fossil fuels and concerns about climatic changes, the demand of electricity is raising due to which the need of renewable energy sources are increasing at very high rate because of which Solar power/energy became one of the most important topic to research and work on. As solar panels are the only sources to capture the rays/light coming from sun and further by use inverters this solar energy is converted into electrical energy. The most important and basic question comes with monitoring, control and efficiency of these solar plants. Here we are going to proposed an idea for monitoring, controlling and improving the efficiency of these solar plants artificially. As the whole world is relaying on internet and most of work is done by use or connecting things with internet and in this way internet of things (IOT) technology is also getting importance day by day. For supervising solar power generation using internet of things technology can greatly enhance the performance, monitoring and maintenance of solar plants. Moreover, the cost of renewable energy sources is going down globally with advancement of these technologies. This massive scale of solar system development requires advanced systems for automation of the plants monitoring remotely using web-based interfaces. This project is based on implementation of new cost effective and more efficient methodology based on IOT to remotely monitoring a solar plant for performance evaluation. For making this plant more efficient we will design solar tracker which automatically tracks the direction of rays coming from sun and move accordingly with the movement of sun. this will facilitate preventive maintenance and efficiency, fault detection of plant in addition to real time monitoring. 
 

Project Objectives

The aim and objective of this project is to design a smart solar monitoring system. as it is known that after insertion of solar panals in any area to maintain efficiency or to deliver maximum energy the surface of panals must kept clean always. here we will design a system which automatically cleans panals by end of each day and if in case of any fault in panals we will be notified through sms. one of the most intresting feature in this is that these panals will be able to move according to the movement of sun raises. this solar tarcker feature make our system more efficient to deliever energy as compare to the static ones.

Project Implementation Method

we are going to apply SCRUM methodology to complete this project. we will complete this project in iterations. actually our project is combination of two different projects. firstly the IOT based monitoring part and secondly Tracking part. at first we will design circuit using Proteus and after completion of circuit we will write code(programming) for designed cirucit then after completion of both parts we move towards implementation of hardware.

there are lots of benefits of this project and some of them are as follow

  1. Remote monitoring allows solar companies to remotly access and evaluate the performance of solar plants and identify issues as and when the system is not performing at its best.
  2. rest assured of its performance because of being monitored by IOT.
  3. if any fault occurs in panels ,we will notify through message .
  4. Renewable energy source:Among all the benefits of solar panels, the most important thing is that solar energy is truly renewable source

Technical Details of Final Deliverable

the final product will have the following features:

  1. it will be monitored using internet
  2. it will track the sun light and move accordingly to the movement of sun
  3. dust from solar panals will be cleaned automatically by just one click 
  4. if any fault occurs it the operator we be notified through message
